AWD in 2007 w/ new look.
nice - fits in with strategy but my guess is it could come in late 2005 / early 2006. Otherwise it will be revealed at the 2006 NY Auto Show (as per other Acura vehicles):
2003 - TL
2004 - RL
2005 - RDX
2006 - updated TL
2003 - TL
2004 - RL

Very reliable. I dont know if they will come out with reg. TL, and offer AWD later. But I was told Honda/Acura read all the reviews and they are making the changes. They want the RL to be on top. So, we have to wait.
I hope he doesnt get in trouble. =X
May be I should delete these cuz he says they are research people that spends alot time reading all kinds of forum and reviews.
I was told every 4 years new changes happen.

well i would NOT worry about it, we've been talking about AWD TL for some time now.
in fact its one of the top wishes of the car....
also, we have heard that acura marketing research has asked owners about it, so we know they are at least doing some analyiss around it..

Do you imply '07 would be 4GTL???

1GTL '95~'98
2GTL '99~'03
3GTL '04~'07 or '08
4GTL '08~ or '09~
We all assume '07 model (on sale at the end of '06) could be the final year of 3GTL series. If the car you're talking about comes out as '07 model (the end of '06), it would be stupid to have 4G TL in '08 (the end of '07). If Acura decides to give 2-yr life of this '07 TL AWD, 4GTL would prolly not be into the market until '09 (the end of '08) (unless they name this '07 model as 4GTL).
I don't know what Acura/Honda is thinking now. Prior to 05RL's sale, I ever saw the report of Honda test-drove SH-AWD on "US Accord" or "JDM Inspire (old model, but driver seat is on the left)" bodies. Hopefully US Honda/Acura could find teh right schedule to stuff SH-AWD into the lineup, and hope TL's schedule would be ahead of Accord's.

No he just said it was coming out in 2007. so, I thought it would be 2007 TL? maybe 2008 in 2007? Not too sure cuz he won't say any more.
my "friend" works for the HQ. Not the dealer. =)
I'll ask more about it when he's butt drunk with few friends. LOL
I know more about NSX, and up coming cars. =) heheheeh

oh and did i tell u that there will be another flagship above RL :iamdreaming:
oh and i forgot about the coupe... it'll have SH-AWD
I bet we'll see AWD with the 2006 TL. Remember, the competition for the TL includes Audi A4, the BMW 325, the Infinity G35, etc., and all of those models offer an AWD. So, unless the RL has problems with the SH-AWD, I think Acura would want to be able to compete with the TL's AWD competition sooner rather than later.

That the TL will get SH-AWD is nothing new nor "secret". Many executives at Honda including CEO Fukui have been quoted as saying the SH-AWD system will make it to other models, including the Accord and TL.

If the TL came out with AWD, and more horsepower (would need to be a minimum of 300 to offset the weight) I would trade in my 04 RIGHT NOW!!
I am praying for a reinstall of the S Type. That was the absolute most assanine move Acura made (killing Type-S). The A-Spec kit is not a substitute for a true S-Type as there is no difference where it counts HORSEPOWER. For all I care they can drop the ULEV status for this model if it translates into more power.

=) heheheBy the way, there are more than marketing people there in CA.

People from Santa Clarita also visits Torrance.
Some times, I might find out sooner than others since I work on branding car makers.
I am working on just that right now for 06 line.
What a waste of time this thread is...
Hey, my friend works at McDonald's, and he says that the RL will one day have a V8!!! He's predicting 2010 .. this is coming from a very high-up source!!!!

Just to add to your knowlege the SH-AWD system was tested on the honda inspire AKA as US accord and to add more excitment to this post it was tested with a 6-speed transmission. Reasons why SH-AWD is not on the TL, all I could say tha is NOT for technical or mechanical reasons.

If AWD was tested, and was confirmed to work without issue...RELEASE IT! I would have hopped, skipped, AND jumped if they offered AWD as an option on the TL (I don't think I am alone here either).
If they take and tune the 3.5 liter 6, boost the output to 300HP, change up the gearing to make it more aggressive....POOF instant world beater. The review in C&D stated that the TL would have won if it were RWD, but now it can be AWD (SCREW RWD). I just hope they tune the suspension, and provide speed sensitive steering. As it stands the TL is nice, but the suspension (I have the A-Spec) and the steering are way too loose. That is one area where I hope Acura emulates BMW.

At that point if I'd stay with Acura, it would be a used RL.

Just my opinion - If Acura sticks by its current redesign cycle, we should expect an all-new 4th generation TL in 2008, probably released in Oct 2007. Of course, this doesn't mean they won't upgrade the current design along the way. SHAWD might be one of those upgrades and perhaps even a factory version "Type S".

Wrong... it would be 2009, released Oct 2008....
2nd gen TL ran from 99-03
99-01 looked the same, mild feature upgrade
02-03 front change, tailight change, Type-S offering (maybe 2001, don't remember)
3rd gen, if it follows the schedule would run from 04-08
04-06 Same look, mild feature updgrade
07-08 Possible looks changes similar to 2nd gen, SH-AWD and some more ponies
4th gen, if it continued to follow suit
