Depends on where you live, etc. I've gone through 2 batteries in just less than 3 years, but I live in the Phoenix, AZ area...which eats batteries like candy.

better have that 04 battery tested right away!

The newer the year car, the tighter cowled the engine and higher compartment temps result. As said above- heat bakes batteries, literally boiling the acid fluid out of it, no fluid- nothing to recharge and conduct juice...

Running a big amp or other heavy loads can put extra wear on it, numerous short trips with no time to recharge the battery are bad, stop and go commute with ac and light and stereo are bad

When it fails and they all do, consider the pro-rated warranty cost to replace at dealer vs a good aftermarket battery

For referance - back in the day with low load car a battery would go 4-6 years, now 3-4 is average and 2-3 happens,,some cars are hard on parts

It also depends on how you treat your car, for example I usually walk to lunch because the plaza is just a 5 minute walk from my office, but some people drive because they don't care about their car.

I've gotten roughly 3 years out of my 2k and then 04 batteries. I hope I can get the same out of my 08's. I consider myself fortunate with the brutality of the hot FL sun.

When I worked at the dealer, it seemed to be that the TL's with the delphi electronics batteries failed all the time. If you have that battery in your car, replace it as it will fail soon if it hasnt yet.

my 06 with 31k miles has lasted me 3 years. Spent the first year and a half in Phoenix, AZ and the other year and a half in bay area cali. Seems to be going strong but I havent tested it or anything. I even had it die on me two times from leaving the map light on over night

2.5 years for the original, 4 months for the second, three months so far on the third. All replaced under warranty on an 06 TL 6MT. Charging system was thoroughly checked after the second one crapped out so quickly.

TL's are known (or so I've heard) of eating through the stock battery quickly. I left my car sitting for 10 days while on vacation, and it was dead when I came back so I had to recharge it, and this is in an '07 TLS. I'll have to check my consumer reports, they had battery ratings not long ago.

04 TL picked up 1/31/04 now with 41K on the odometer and still the original battery There are lots of contributing factors and the environment (extreme temps - high or low) is certainly one of the biggest. Before my TL, I had a 94 Accord and got 8.5 years out of the OEM battery.
