Automatic Upshift

I was wondering if there is any way to make the car stay in 1st gear when in tiptronic. If you let off the throttle it automatically switches to 2nd. The first time I autocrossed the car it was REALLY Annoying. Any ideas?

You can't do anything about it, except maybe buy a 07-08 TL instead. The 07-08 TL and TL-S do not automatically shift into 2nd. You can bounce off the rev limiter a few times and still be in 1st. On the early model TLs however it automatically upshifts you to 2nd and there's no by-pass that I know of.

Agreed its annoying, but I didnt find anything about changing it in the earlier models. I have an '04 and I hate when it decides to drop back to first when its unnecessary. Hopefully this will be addressed soon with the J&R ecu, I hoping anyways.

Yea I'd be screaming in 1st, then slow down for a tight turn and it would shift into 2nd and then the computer would think, go back to 1st gear and then launch down another straight to the next turn. O well.

if you put it in L mode it will hold you into 1st gear till about 6000rpm then shifts to 2nd, but I don't know how good that is for the tranny.
