Answer: YES.

Recommended? NO.

Here's a link to the proper way to do it: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/rr-journals-atf-drain-refill-3g-garage-c-012-a-556044/

I filled mine through the dip stick.

I just took a long skinny funnel and taped a straw to the end of it.

Make sure everything is squeaky clean, as always.

Nothing wrong with doing it this way, but as you already know...the fill bolt's there for that reason. You access the fill bolt from above in the engine bay. Loosening the fusebox helps. Filling the ATF through the dipstick hole is fine, it just extends the fluid fill time.

Accessing the fill bolt would be easier than trying to fill the transmission through the dipstick. You'll need a breaker bar to get the fill bolt loose though.

A breaker bar and long extension makes the fill nut a straight forward task to remove. Use a funnel with a long tube extension to fill up and you're good.

I do it, but my car has the oil jet mod, which uses the drain hole.

I built a PVC funnel that uses a McDonalds or Chick-fil-a straw. Total PITA. Use the regular one, if you can.
