To all my STRONG ISLAND TL drivers, STATE TROOPERS will be replacing ALL Nassau & Suffolk HIGHWAY PATROL cars on the LIE & Sunrise Highways. Article link is below and although it states it "may" happen, its official as of this morning on CBS.

Also I noticed that sometimes at the top of the onramp from the CIP north to the LIE west the NYPD like to hang there. Not sure if they're looking for the speeders or seatbelt violators

I think the only difference for us now is that we have to look for different car colors at the speedtrap that's all. I don't see things as getting tougher for us. Nassau and especially Suffolk cops are notorious for being as tough or even tougher than troopers about giving out tickets.

I really wish they will come up with a system where they scan the car's info as driving...just to separate bad drivers from the good, so they can stop pulling me the f. over.

It would be great....cops would be busy pulling unlicensed/unregistered vehicles over....think about it...this will result in less traffic as people with bad records or no papers will not be using highways... I say yes to this

Nope, they are old school....it's only the city cops who have a nice budget to waste...I hate those charges...mean looking cars

ahh....my bad. It was probably local police then. I knew I saw Chargers out and about and yes, they do look mean....pretty fast too from what I witnessed.

i have noticed this too, but it cant be people speeding! too much traffic to speed up that ramp during Rush hours which is when i see them there

I noticed the same thing - they are looking for expired stickers, seatbelts, and tint - they pulled me to the side for my 20% tint, but he let me go when I flashed my brother's courtesy sheriff badge. 1 BIG diff between Nassau/Suffolk county cops and state troopers -> state troopers do not respect anyone's courtesy badge/PAL card. There is not getting out of a ticket with state troopies - most of the time - they're real dicks.... I got caught speeding late 1 night on the MeadowBrook Pkwy and he laughed at the badge and wrote me up.

And - I could swear state trooper's cars are dark green and gold - guess it could be dark blue - and yes they have the Chargers and hopped-up Blazers along ole reliable Crown Vics. This sux - state troopers are a real PITA to deal with and now I can't even avoid them by taking the LIE and rte 135

Dark blue at least up here in Westchester and Rockland. I live near one State police barrack and my girl lives near another. They are dark blue. I have seen the chargers a few times but, mostly blazers and crown vics.

basically. i almost never ((knock on wood)) get pulled over for nothing... like every month or two, i'll get snagged for tints, but they always let me go ... pulled over 5 or 6 times in the past year for tints, and not 1 ticket
