Well I've been on the pc all day looking for a DIY to install my Type S Aspec kit that i recently ordered from Tim over at Peoria Acura. I have searched hi and low , Google and Azine and cant seem to find it. If someone could help me out with a DIY link for this install i'd greatly appreciate it thanks guys in advance.

Truthfully the provided instructions were pretty straightforward and you should have no difficulty following just those.

 

So they kit comes with instructions?

 

You can find instructions on Acura.com. Find the link for "Acura Store" Parts& Accessories (eStore). Click Accessories & put in your make/ model. Select a dealer,etc. When you land on the accessory page it has a link to the "Accessory Installation Instructions".

You should be fine with the included instructions but if you'd like to keep the lower fog light grill mesh assembly, you will have to perform a little customization. Some of prefer to keep it as it matches perfectly with the larger front grill. I was able to figure it out but not before posting a desperate newbie thread. I'll dig up a link if I can find it or you can search around.

 

its hard to do really. the brackets and alignment level. make sure the rear lip even up with the seam.

 

Sometimes if you have to ask for the instructions and they'll print them out at the dealer for you.

I should be tackling this project tomorrow(weather permitting).... Figured I'd start with the front then rear then sides... :-)

The instructions are actually pretty self explanatory. I just went to Home Depot and got some 3M 5lb adhesive tape. Should be better than what's provided.

 

^good idea. i had to add a little extra for the front bumper. the rear bumper matched up fine.

just remember, once you press it on...it's on. there is no turning back at that point, so make sure everything is lined up properly.

good luck tomorrow. post some pics when you finish it. be prepared to dedicate a few hours for this.

 

Install went great. Had some much needed help from proimport(member on here)... Lined up everything and took our time. Weather was perfect.

Loving the look! Strange, just a piece of plastic can make such a difference to the stance and feel of the car!

Yeh about a 2 or 3. An extra hand doesn't hurt. Was only able to finish the front and Sideskirts. Got dark before I could to the rear. Will been done today and post pics when I get home.

yup.. extra hand is always helpful.

and double check the sport where u drill into the bumper before doing it.... one of mine didnt align for some weird reason.. and I drilled exactly where the "X" was.. so I have 3 holes that line up properly and 1 way off haha

 

Also do not take the tape off until the very end of each install. You can also add some more heavier duty 3M Double sided tape for additional support to close up the gaps. :-)

 

Well guys did the rear today and what can I say.......what a bitch!!!
No lie i felt retarded doing it hahah. The drill holes in my rear bumper where marked for blind people, there were like reading braille there were 4 little dots that showed the drill spot.
Anyways got it done, here's the turnout thanks for the help guys..

Looks good, but is the rear skirt just a bit off above the exhaust tips? It looks to me like you didn't completely cover up the seam with the under spoiler - either that or it's a shadow...I don't mean to be nit-picking, but I did the same thing, and it pissed me off. A few days later I removed the rear bumper again, removed the under spoiler, redid some of the 3M tape, and pushed the under spoiler up properly, and then refastened and reassembled everything. I did it in Feb though, and it was pretty cold, so I didnt have too much trouble with the 3M tape being too sticky.

If I'm wrong, I apologize. Everything else looks good!!!

looks really good ... kinda off topic, but jw when u take the front bumper off, whats the deal with the fogs, do they just come off with the bumper? is there a connnection u have to disconnect or something??

 

Good job man. My boy lives in Perth Amboy too. I'll be removing my rear base A-Spec lip and installing the Type S A-Spec lip soon.

 

There is a plug you have to unplug on the foglight housing to release the bumper completely.

just disconnect the fogs. your suppose to take off the grill thats next to the fogs but with some modification you can lave them on and it looks alot better will post a pick up later

Yeah right now I have the XLR8 with 2 big singles. After I do the Type S A-Spec lip I might have to get new tips welded on there. Looks really good with the quads.

Hey, I saw that you removed the front bumper to perform the install. Is that required? I'm kind of nervous to remove my front bumper to install on my 2008 base TL.

I would say yeah you have to just because it's easier to mount and you have to drill holes. Maybe some MacGyver's on here can do it without removing the bumper but since it's your first time you should remove it. It's Fairly easy.
