aspec kit color not matching (pics)
Sorry I don't have any better pics of the car. Trying to buy this car but just noticed this. If you look at the first pic, it looks like the A-spec kit does not match the color of the car very well. What do you guys think? Is it just me?

from the two further pictures its hard to tell, can't really say because a lot of TLs have this problem. the previous owner must have put in the accord fog lights in the lower grill, so be sure to look carefully for other aftermarket modifications done to the car, i wouldn't be surprised if the previous owner is registered here.

it may be an 06 ssm (asm?) on an 04/05 asm (ssm?)
can't remember which came first/second, but you get the idea, two different silvers
thats the only explanation other than repaint that i can think of

05' AT SSM
Yeah the side skirts and rear lip aspec definitely look to be a different color, what year is your car? 04-06 SSM, 07-08 is ASM. The Aspec looks darker like SSM but it could be just a crappy match like others have said unless your car is a 07-08.
Yeah i read this all the time with certain colors, especially WDP and SSM, reason i have hesitated on the kit.

Yeah, it looks like another paint mis-match.
Take a look at my SSM:
(It's not that bad, the lighting makes it look horrible in that picture, I swear! =P)
See?
It's still darker none-the-less =(
Anyways, I can confirm that the car he is planning to buy is an 04-06 model which is supposed to be SSM.
You can tell the body paint is SSM because it has a slight hint of blue to the silver (determining by the first picture).

All A SPEC kits are painted correctly, its your car that may differ which is why WDP may have a mis-match especially if you had your car painted before (white is hard to match).
I've never seen a anyone have a problem with NBP, SSM, MRP, ASM, etc...
Unless I am blind of course.

my ASM plastic bumpers don't match at all and the car has never been in an accident. the plastic bumper is a bit darker than the rest of the body. its mostly noticeable in the rear.
and btw i have an 06, and the door panel (where it displays the vin number, also says the paint code.) My paint code is NH700M which equates to ASM.

That is not something that should deter you from buying this car. You do realize that this car has the body kit, decklid spoiler, modified accord foglights, aspec wheels, etc? And it looks like its in great shape?

The lip kit and the car where not painted at the same time, in the case of my car it was bought in 05 but the kit was not bought and installed till 2010, you SHOULD expect paint yo vary in color for that reasion. Even if the kit was installed when the car was bought new i doubt the the aspec kit was painted at the same time thus the difference.

yeah this is why I was so excited to get it. I was just a little turned off because I assumed the previous owner bought the kit unpainted and got a cheap paint job. But according to the poster below you, this is probably not the case. We will see what happens, but this does seem like a nice car and hopefully I can pick it up if everything works out

Yeah. And keep in mind- the owner was most likely an enthusiast if he has the Accord fogs, and the A-Spec accessories. So chances are, the car was babied. A definite positive thing.

What year is your car? I have a 2006 TL. In 2006 they switched from Satin Silver Metallic to Alabaster Silver Metallic. Even some dealerships don't know that. I bought touch up paint from Acura the other day and trusted the guy behind the counter. Brought it home and it said "Satin Silver Metallic."

CARBON FIBER WDP TL
they dont match..never..i paint cars for a nissan and acura dealer...and let me tell you these new cars have issues...factories are paintin the cars in another area while the bumpers are being painted somewhere else to..thats why sometime they are off..

This is typical if you've installed the kit after a certian amount of miles.
UV light will naturally yellow everything. So if you have a older car and install a OEM painted kit from the factory you'll get that issue.
It is super hard to spot on vehicles that had the kit installed from day 1.
I bought my car with 50K and that was one of the first things I installed on my ride. I am the only one that can notice but I work with color on a everyday basis.
It seems to happen more with lighter colors than darker ones.
