Aspec front lip installation
I should be getting my front aspec lip any day and I have a few questions after reading these instructions from hondacuraworld.
1) Do I absolutely need to put the car on a lift? Would I be fine with the car on an incline? My driveway is a pretty steep incline.
2) I know I've read something before about putting additional double sided tape or changing the double sided tape. Whats that all about?
3) Where can I buy this centerpunch thing that they're saying I need?
Thanks for helping

2. The tape that comes with the lip isnt the best so if u take it off or keep it there and add stronger 3M tape the think stuff it will stick better and help eliminate the gap between the lip and ur car....
3. I have no clue what u are talking about here

2) Some people feel the tape provided by Acura is too weak, so there will be gaps.
3) I bought my center punch from a local hardware store.

1.) it helps to have the car slightly elevated in order to drill the holes in the bumper (3 in front and 2 in each side). If you have a set of ramps, those would work great. I didnt have ramps at the time (do now!), so I used the jack that came with the TL as well as a matching jack I have with my 95 Accord..worked pretty well, although the ramps would have been more stable. There is also no need to remove front tires, as some people have done.
2.) The extra double-sided tape would be helpful, but not totally necessary. I didn't use any, and have not seen any gaps.
3.) The centerpunch can be found at any home improvement store (lowes, home depot, etc.) for a few bucks... it is used to make in an indentation where you mark off the templates... it provides a centerpoint for the drill bit (so the bit doesnt make an off-center hole.)
...all in all, the front lip was alot easier than I expected it to be after reading the instructions. The whole drilling thing is a daunting task, but once you've got one whole drilled, you're kinda past the point of no return, and its cake from there. You can't really take the bumper off, because you need the bumper to be flush with the inner wheel fenders for the 2 holes you need to drill on each side by the front tires.
GL w/ the install... its gonna look great when youre done!

Thanks. All this info has made me feel a lot more comfortable about going ahead with the install.
I'll definitely go to a Home Depot to get one of those Center punches.
The install seems pretty simple. The only part I'm unsure about is the drilling. I have one but I've never really used it for anything. But Im sure its just like you said... Once I do the 1st I'll feel a lot more comfortable.

I just did mine. You dont need to remove the front bumper.
Just jack it up. use the template that comes with it. follow the directions to the letter.
You'll be fine. PM me if you have any questions

i was part of the march madness... got mine on a friday, had it installed by 3pm the next day!!!... so much for waiting!
be careful removing the front bumper... there is a part of the front lip installation that requires the bumper/kit to be flush with the inner fender area to drill holes for attachment...

yeah, the rear is a little bit harder to do just because you have to remove the bumper to get it done. Sides are simple, just a swap there. I recommend NOT taking off the front bumper to do the front... use jacks or ramps if you have them.. the front actually went on alot easier than I thought it would. Shouldnt take you too long... if I had it to do again, now that I know how it all goes, it could probably get done in 2-3 hours.... Good luck!

Example of a center punch:
http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?actio...2-0&lpage=none
for a few bucks, its just handy to have around the garage. Not completely necessary for a-spec kit instal, you could use a long nail, drill bit, etc.

i see, cuz i think i'm going to do the same thing... buy a front lip if they still have some in stock... just trying to see everything i need cuz it seems like a easy diy... so far main thing seems to be some better 3M double sided tape... any reccomendations?
also... i think for now all im going to be doing is the front lip... anyone know how smooth that will go with the oem side skirts and bumper on a 07 base TL?

I didn't use a center punch. What i did was mark where the holes need to be drilled then start off with a smaller drill bit and finish it off with the correct size bit. I found putting on the brackets on the sides of the lip the time consuming part of the install.
