I recently completely renovated my house and I had never done any real renos before. I borrowed tools from friends in the trades, got some tips and went to work. It took several months working in the evenings after work, but I saved THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS!!!

Doing this allowed me to save some $$ and pick up my TL, and now I'm working on IT!! Sorry for the life story, but its just my

That's exactly what I did, check my album for a few pics. Just used a couple simple L brackets, rubber well nuts, etc from Lowes.

Oh, millionaires complain more than they should comparing to normal ones, I guess although I am not one of them.
I am not complaining the price, but my ignorance.

JK, dont be too serious. I am sure a less likely car guy than you are, I suppose.

im in queens too. So if you need a hand let me know.

...here's one story I have... I had to replace my tensioner pully for my serp belt. I went to a couple of shops, got some estimates but, not to my liking. I went to Barnes and Nobles on Austin st. Picked up a HAYNES book and tackled it myself. .....
.....and I had no bolts or nuts left over.......
but, yeah...sometimes you have to learn the hardway to gain some knowledge.

Ouch, at least you didn't get quoted over $600 to install the kit. Dealership wanted 6 hours to do the job x $125 (per hour).

Yeah thats crazy. I once picked up a set of tail lights from a guy that paid $500 for a dealer to install his TYPE-S. I felt bad and people pay that because "its from a dealer". $100 is a good deal. Mechanics get paid for their time and bringing it to a shop that probably hasn't done this car before would be more because its more "time" to look over how to do it and then install it. Its something that anyone can do but its work and does take time. Car dealers make their money on their service and used cars, not on selling new cars.

Most people don't realize that everything is work and there is overhead, employees to pay, taxes, utilities and for those who don't have the tools and space it would cost more to acquire those two than its worth.

Agreed, 300 is a bad price... More importantly, where did you get the kit for 700? cheapest price i found was 800 on ebay!
