Arco gas ok for our cars?

Does anyone use Arco gas in their TL? I drove by an Arco station and prem was 3.86 , everywhere else hiked to 3.95-4.05...
I normally use Shell or Valero, whatever else is convenient on my way home.

by the way if you fill -up and your CEL light up, then you can figure it was bad gas at that station

I try to stick with those brands featured on www.toptiergas.com/retailers.html as they are known to contain a certain minimum level of detergent additives.

is that one of those discount places? The really cheap places sometimes get the older leftover gas (hence cheaper) so it may very well be the same base gas as a chevron or shell, but possibly a month old, and with who knows what (if any) detergent in there.

+1.

Arco gas is a mixture of leftover gas from multiple different refineries, as they do not have their own. You should be okay using it, but I ALWAYS drive by Arco's, and their cheaper gas prices.

"leftover gas"? Didn't know there was such a thing in this country!

Sunoco Canada is on that list, but not Sunoco USA?

You'd be surprised, they make use of nearly everything in the petroleum refining process. Even the remaining sludge becomes tar. The stuff before the sludge is probably the arco gas

ARCO (Atlantic Richfield Company) is owned by British Petroleum. They do refine their own gas. I do not like there fuel, but it is cheap and I've never had any issue with any prior vehicles using their fuel.

I dont really care what cars you used to run on arco- we all have done it!
You cannot make a statement of how good it works- in the Tier1 requiring TL- if you have never run the proper gas!!! comparing apples to ==nothing???/
Use seafoam to remove the crud buildup, then try real gas- there is a differance that pays off in fuel economy and running of the car

I use ARCO premium when I can't get Costco premium. Those two brands account for about 85% of my fuel purchases for the TL. I do use Shell when near a specific one with low prices, and a Chevron by the house to pay it back for the free air hose.

No gas problems ever with my TL- no pinging, CEL or stumbling- but I always use premium (91 in CA).

Stay away from arco gas. My dad used to use arco gas almost exclusively. I helped him replace his LIM gaskets. His engine has all sorts of sludgy stuff in it, and he's religeous about oil changes.

In my other car with the same engine, I also changed the LIM gasket. I even had 40k more miles than he did. I had no sludge/varnish/etc whatsoever. I use Chevron and Shell exclusively.

My mistake, I was reading "leftover gas" as fuel from the initial refinement that noone wanted to buy.

i used to use only chevron premiums but for past few months i started using arco and have no problems or loss of mpg.
lots of people question about quality of arco's gasoline because of low price compared to others. this is because arco sells it in bigger volume. on average each arco station pumps at least 10,000 gallons a day with much lower profit margin compared to chevrons and other premium brands. also gasoline is filtered once more before its pumped into cars.

I use Arco when I happen to need to refuel and there are no Shell/Chevron/Mobil stations in sight. Have been doing so for years and never had a problem. I dont use it exclusively, and each time I refuel (doesnt matter which gasoline brand), either I find my way to a 76 station afterwards that pumps 100 octane and I dump a few gallons here and there or I dump about three bottles of STP gas treatment (3 bottles/$2.96) in the tank.

never had any issues whatsoever.

I only use chevron...the car I had b4 the type s, I would put Arco gas and even though it was cheaper I filled up gas atleast twice a week. When I used chevron, I filled up only once every two weeks. So Arco was in fact more expensive LOL. From that experience, ive only used chevron.

IMO stay away from ARCO ... somehow their gas stations are always dirtier/run down than other brands .... or is that just my biased point of view?
