Talking Apparently, our blue LEDs have another purpose

According to this article, blue LEDs used in vehicles' interiors help to keep drivers more alert when driving at night. Of course, they need to really bathe the interior in a specific wavelength of blue light, but it's an interesting read nonetheless.

(This may be a rambling thing, but I figured it was TL-related due to the unique blue ambient lighting the TL has.)

Cute.

So (say) 5 minutes in the right color blue light, taking my "light shower", fools my body into thinking it's wake up time. Now I'm alert and ready to drive. Right?

So how long on the road, in my tired sleep-deprived state, in the "real" light of day before my body figures out it's dark, it's tired and it's time to go to sleep. Same 5 minutes?

if I wanted to wake up through light, a bright white light would do the job much better.

"You start to see a beautiful increase in brain activity in the 300 milliseconds response, which is a measure of alertness." The current test box emits diffuse light at 470 nanometres, with an intensity of 40 lux when measured at the eye.

Damn - My TL only emits 463 nanometres. Maybe that's why my wife doesn't like me out after dark...
