Apparently 5% limo tint doesn't stop thieves

Pried the glass so hard the door is slightly misaligned and I will need new window trim, which the dealer doesn't sell as a separate piece. I will either need to pay the price of a whole new door to get that piece or find a used one somewhere.

This kind of thing is always infuriating to see. Sorry to hear, man.
Hey, at least they had the courtesy to take the window out of the car, instead of in it. Saves you some vaccuuming.

That sucks.....
I never leave my backpack in plain view anymore. I always lock it in the trunk if I have to leave it in there. It seems dumb, but people will break into your car hoping that there is a laptop or something in it. Happened to my friend last year.

If you are talking about the verticle window trim you can buy that on an acura parts website and replace it yourself. When I bought my car it had been attempted to be broken into and they bent that piece in the front, I think I found a guide for how to replace it on the 2g and it was similar you remove the weather stripping, unscrew and it slides on.

Your fronts aren't tinted? You do realize this is going to minimize the 5%, right? I feel bad you got hit, but that was just stupid!

Damn, sorry to see this. Was this a parking garage with cameras? Even though that may not do anything...
I remember leaving my SLR in my backseat one time; front is 45% and back is 15%. I parked my car just to go eat a block away and immediately ran back to grab the SLR knowing something like this would happen.
Sucks man, hope everything works out.

Damn you beat me to it. This is exactly right. People should tint their windows for keeping car cooler. Thats it. Wanna hide valuables, put them in your trunk. A nice car means you have $.$$ in the eyes of a thug and they'll bust in your 5% tint whether you have anything or not. If its not in sight, they'll go into the glove box next. Having windows that can be seen in def reduces your chances of a break-in. I'm sorry for the break-in bro. I hope you're made whole sooner than later from your insurance company.

I have 5% in rear, 17% in front. the fronts dont look so dark in the pic because the sun was shining right behind it. my backpack was black so a black backpack on the rear seat is impossible to see with 5% tint. It was at night too, they must have had some bright flashlight and caught a glimpse at the right angle. It was parked overnight at my girlfriend's apartment in a gated parking lot. no security cameras, but the cop did say that this sort of thing is common around this area...it happened in riverside, ca. anyone who lives in socal can vouch that riverside is a ghetto area. but hey, i go to school here so what can i do right?

btw, according to the acura parts diagrams, the window trim is NOT available separately. I'd love to be proved wrong though. Maybe I will try asking the dealership and seeing what they say

like stated over and over again....put stuff in trunk.
When we were in hawaii we started hangin out with one of the locals who was our guide on our zipline tour. he told us just never leave anything in sight of people walking by. if they are theiving, thier gonna take it wether it has something good or not. they will assume it is worth somethign if your car is locked.
also mentioned to put it into trunk before you get to your destination. if they are lurking and see you take something from inside and stick it in the truck before you walk away, they know its worth something and will obtain it.
either way, sorry for your loss getting jacked suuuuuucks.

Ditto putting the stuff in the trunk. When I worked in SD as a field tech I carried a spare LCD, computer, a few keyboard and mice, NIC, in my trunk pretty much 24/7. I put them all in the trunk and locked the trunk release with my key. (it would be the locked glove box and disabled trunk release in the TL). Never had a problem over 9 months.
though i did leave my $150 garmin on my dash and still never had a problem. You win some and lose some I guess.

Hurts to see this..
I had the same window broken. A week into owning the car. Only had to replace the glass. The thief that broke mine did a pretty good damn job. When i got to the car, I though i had left the window down. Lowlife had taken out the whole glass and threw it under the car.. very clean LOL.
