Anyone heel toe?

Just wondering if anyone heel-toes on a daily basis here? I find myself doing it more and more now that i've gotten quite good on the tl. Im not sure if its still called heel-toeing but in essence i'll keep half my toes on the brake and then blip the throttle with the other half of my toes that is hanging off the right side of the brake pedal. IMO, its easier to heel-toe the tl than my s2k mainly due to the floor mounted throttle pedal.

At first I thought you were talking about the vendor.......then I thought you were talking about dancing, doing the crip walk and heel toe.....then I read on and it was neither ThANKS ALOT:p.

If I had a car that I could drift I would heel toe but in my TL I don't like to think to much or work to hard so I just do it the basic way.

I heeltoe several times daily. Usually in the morning to see if the Tanabe cat-back is out yet, then in the afternoon to oogle over it...then the evening just to make usre he didn't update the release date during the day...

Oh wait....that heel toe...I have a 5AT...

I thought the whole point of rev-matching was so you didn't have to heel-toe? Or am I mistaken about the definition of heel-toeing?

Subconsciously each and every time

Just as you say "half my toes on the brake and then blip the throttle with the other half of my toes"

I started doing it years ago in my Saab Turbos and it's become second nature. I used to be pretty aggressive about it. Ya know, come in to the corner real hot and then go flying through it. Keep the turbo spooling so to speak. By contrast in the TL I'm pretty reserved about it. I use it by second nature simply for rev-matching and smooth shifting. I guess I'm older, mellower and don't want to terrorize the neighbors. Some will actually stop briefly in neutral and double-clutch but I don't do that. Technically it's better since the "innards" of the gearbox will be better rev matched.

When I was younger, my Dad was a terrible down shifter. (sorry Pops, you were). We'd lurch forward with every downshift. I guess it inspired me to do better

When done well there is less transients thrown into the drive train. See these:

in short, it saves your clutch and allows for quicker, smoother engagement

Your dad and my dad must have learned from the same teacher. He was bad but when I was a kid, I thought we was the coolest. I let him drive my TL once when I first got it and 10 minutes into the trip, I had him pull over so I could take us back home. I love the man but I do all the driving whenever we go out.

Heel and toe is while rev matching while braking. Heel on the brake, toes on the gas. Not many can do it correctly.

I think its the other way around. heel blips the gas, toes on the brake.
