Anyone have windshield tint? Anyone have a pic?

Every morning I drive due east with the sun right in my face, and drive home due west with the sun right in my face. Getting tired of it. Does anyone have the shield tinted? I would like the lightest tint humanly possible, but still want to get it done. I don't drive at night much at all so that's not much of an issue, although those of you that have it done I would love your input on it affecting driveability...

Searching will lead to a few people saying they have done it...Make sure your state allows for that before the police come harassin.

well it may look nice, its completely illegal unless you have a dr prescription. its also very difficult to see out at night. not so much the tint itself, but the reflectivity of the tint on the inside. Also not to mention if you were ever in an accident due to poor visibility and the insurance company noticed that your windshield was tinted your hosed.

Can you post some day and night pics from the inside looking out when you get it done?

in this case i would actually recommend a metallic tint which reflects light and appears lighter than I would the ceramic which absorbs light and appears darker, at the same % levels.

You might as well just put a big sign on the car that says come and write me a ticket. Getting the entire windshield tinted is illegal in every state I can think of, and cops WILL ticket you for it.

^Disagree...it depends where you live. I live in metro atlanta(JC) and cops have never given me a problem for tint of any kind, even when Ive gotten pulled over. Ive had my windsheild tinted with 50 and 35or40 not completely sure...the 50 is a little hard to tell that its tinted because my sides are 20% but the 35/40 is pretty dark. But its def. not too bad even at night. When I retint if I go full 5 ill get 40 on the windsheild but if I get 15 ill probably just get 50 on the windsheild. It makes it look 100x better IMO. Heres a pic of the 35/40:

^Thanks! And yea I think I have some of that vinyl tint laying around somewhere...I was gonna tint all the lights except the headlights until I have enough money to mess around with them later but I never got around to it...but now that I look at my picture those really do stand out especially compared to my windows..Ill probably get around to it sometime soon. You've got a pretty sweet ride yourself might I add

Theres a shop around here that has 70% tint for the windshield. Ive been contemplating about doing it since its light and still receive UV protection. Anyone have this film installed on their windshield?

The car comes from the factory with UV protection film embedded in the layers of windshield glass. If you're going to tint your windshiled, I'd check with your insurance company as well...if you get into an accident, they may void your coverage as you will have altered your vehicle in an unsafe manner since you've limited your visibility especially at night.

Exactly. This is just plain dumb. No respect for the safety of others. All this super dark tint either means you are shady and/or girls think the guy behind the ting is fugly as hell...lol. Thos are the same guys that crack their windows so you can just see their eyes.

Get some Oakleys. I recommend Flak Jacket. I keep a pair in the so called sunglass holder (in its protective pouch) in our car for conditions like these.

Use of Visor + good Polarized sunglasses! I'd suggest a pair of Maui Jim's, REVO's or Oakleys.

I had 35% on the windshield, 20% all around. Definitely takes some time getting used to and definitely will not help to keep the sun out of your eyes IMO. SUNGLASSES!

on the sunglasses. A quality pair would probably be about the same price as windshield tint, but you can use it outside of the car as well

I have the same problem as you and the Oakleys do the trick for me. I only use them while driving and they are always in the sunglass holder pouch in the door.

Interesting thing about the sunglasses though is that my Oakleys are polarized and it makes it real hard to read the clock.

lol, sounds like some spark plugs.

My tint place had something like 54% as the highest. It didn't look that dark but I don't know about the nighttime and raining.

I had 50% on my windshield of my MDX... kinda stupid, its harder to see at night, its like making your HID's into normal bulbs. But it does look sweet!

Mine is the same as this, and ill never go back.. I got pulled over this year for speeding, caught a break and got a tint ticket for my side window... long story short, when you get pulled over, if you roll your windows down and open the sun roof slide on the inside, the cop cant even tell... and at night its dark so they really cant notice... believe me you will thank your self every day... I will never go back to a plain windshied.

To the people who have tinted windshields, how do you pass state inspection if your sticker is on the windshield?

Your forgetting were not talking about 5% on the windshield, a light 30-35% is all you need, it slightly darkens the front while tremendously helping the reflection of the sun, when your driving next time look at the windshields of the on coming cars with tint on the sides of the car, it already makes the windshield look a little darker, giving it that tinted look... with tinting your windshield if you already have side tint, the cops will not be able to notice it unless you go darker then 35%.
