are you asking how long production takes on a TL? I don't understand the question.

Jeez, how many do you need? Most of us only buy 1, maybe 2. Do you really need a lot full of them?

If you want TL w/Navi that bad, why not special order one from the dealer of your choice, should take about 2-3 months.

THAT IS WHAT I AM TRYING TO SAY!!!

People who ordered in Oct. 04 are getting their cars now. It's freakin' crazy! These cars are just too HOT!!!

I am just pissed cuz my wait is freakin 10-12 weeks. What's taking them so long!!

Backlog...

The term is backlog.

The TL is in high demand and Honda has always tried to manufacture at a rate about equal to demand for their products. It keeps field inventory down and prices stable. But the TL demand, apparently, has outpaced their estimates.

Honda is currently working to move production of the Accord to their other Ohio production facility, where they build Civics, to free up more capacity to build the TL but that won't be in place before the 2006 model year.

While frustrating for buyers, be glad they don't believe in flooding the market with cars. That's one of the reasons the resale for the TL, and Honda products in general, stays high.

The longest waits are for 6MT's w/Navi. And the less common the color combo, the longer the wait.
Mine took exactly 3 months from order to delivery.

I guess it depends on the part of the country? I ordered a 6MT/Navi/DM/Parchment and A-spec and it took 7 weeks from order to pickup.

I live in UCLA (Ugly Corner of Lower Alabama) but purchased in Tallahassee.

Reading this post makes me glad I got mine when I did. We got it out of the showroom in early Oct 04. I wanted RRP w/parchment w/navi and that is exactly what I got! I guess sometimes the early bird gets the worm!

I ordered my RRP/parchment 5AT Navi on Sept 12 and got it on Sept 28. It may be that the factory slowed production for the holidays.

Put the deposit down on my new 2005 Auto/Navi on January 3rd, it was delivered to the dealer yesterday, and I'm picking it up at 10 am tomorrow. It all depends on where you buy it.

If you are willing to do some work you can get exactly what you want without waiting too long.

I foolishly put down a deposit at South Bay Acura mid October and was told it may be a couple months before I may get an Anthracite Quartz AT/Navi because it was in such high demand. They wouldn't even quote me a price for the car.

I emailed the Internet Managers at Keyes, Downey, and South Bay to see if anyone would come close to $33,800. Only Downey (Cheryl Sauer) counter-offered for $34,370. She told me that if I was serious then she would work a dealer trade before the cars shipped since they had just gotten their allocation.
Around October 25th, I agreed and made sure there would be no junk fees nor overpriced accessories that I would have to pay for. On October 30th I received the VIN, on November 5th I was told that it would arrive on the 8th. On the 8th I bought the car.

Now, it turns out that after I told Cheryl that I would buy from her, I had several opportunities to buy the car earlier from either Keyes, South Bay, or Pasadena.
The day that I agreed to buy from Cheryl, I found out that Pasadena had the exact car I wanted available that day for $500 off of MSRP. I declined. That Saturday, I was at South Bay (I had to take the CL in for service) and mentioned that I was going to buy the TL from another dealership so I wanted my deposit back, they suddenly found a TL and figured that within a week they would be able to trade it for exactly what I wanted (somehow the two month wait I was originally quoted became one week). Since they still wouldn't quote me a price, I declined. I also received a couple of phone calls from Keyes telling me they had exactly what I wanted but I also declined.

The lesson here is that for more that what I paid at Downey I could have bought a TL at any time after I decided to buy one. Pure greed prevented the other dealers from making a sale to me since I was willing to wait a few weeks for the price that I originally asked for.

Downey was the best buying experience I've had with no high pressure sales tactics to coerce me to buy stuff I didn't want. Pasadena is pretty good too (I bought an MDX from them) but they couldn't beat Downey in price.
