Anyone color match your black splash guards???
I thought I saw a diy somewhere about color matching the black splash guards. Does anyone have a write up on it? I took mine off the SSM and now I have the infamous "Sand blast" rings where the guards use to be and I can't find the thread.
People who have done it, how are they holding up?

I would like to paint the black ones that I already own to save some $$$ and minimize the headaches trying to sell the black ones that nobody wants...
I'm thinking about getting some primer white spray paint for plastics at home depot, putting a couple of base coats on it, and then finishing it off by spraying a couple of coats of the SSM paint (or whatever is close at autozone) as a final coat. That should allow the SSm paint to adhere to the plastic and still allow some flexing. Maybe a little sanding before the primer...
Any thoughts?

My car had the plain black ones installed when I bought it. I just ordered and installed a set of NBP color matched splash guards yesterday. They look 100x better and they were only 105$ shipped from Curry Acura (ebay auction - 165$ msrp).
I'd much rather spend the 105$ and have them look right and hold up to the elements than to repaint them every 3-6 months. Given where they are on the car, I think a DIY would lead to peeling and cracking after some abuse/weathering.
Just my![2 Cents](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/2cents.gif)
If you end up doing it yourself, post some pics, I'd be curious to see how it comes out as well as the longevity.

I bought mine color-matched, paid about $100 for all four on eBay. They're awesome looking and they fit great. I agree that painting them yourself is not worth what it will cost or the problems you may have with chipping.

I did this about a year ago
I found a paint company in town who makes color match spray paint. this is what I did:
It is not difficult. after I was done I used the leftover to do my front license plate mount, and my engine cover.
- Clean the splash guards VERY well
- apply SEVERAL coats of a GOOD primer made for plastic / rubber
- apply 5 to 8 coats of the paint using thin coats
- apply 5 to 6 coats of GOOD clear coat
