Anyone Attempt this New Mod? LED in the cupholder!?!?!

Hey Guys

so 350z's and other cars have LED's in the cupholders...has ANYONE done a lighted CUPHolder MOD? Now I know, most of us have the cupholder sliding cover closed, but has anyone done something freaky like sliding the cover back and it lights up inside? like a clean flush mount LED inside the cup holder?

what do you think? not worth it?

I like this idea, but I think the blue LEDs at the top are plenty of light at night. Cool idea though.

Thogh about it, but realized it might become a bit ricey. The ambient lights hear the dome lights are good enough, what we do need is some ambient lighting in the rear of the car like the rl's

Was thinking I might do 2 little tiny 3mm leds in the cupholders next time I pull the console... drill tiny little holdes unde rthe rubber "drink stabilzers".

Maybe soon.

Go for it!

Sounds like a great experiment! If it turns out you don't like the LEDs for whatever reason, just take them back out or disconnect them...

look guy, some of us in life aren't about HUGE wins or big gains, sometimes you have to take things one step at a time and if that includes only 3-5hp per mod, then SO BE IT

I'm sick of seeing people always wanting 10+ hp on every mod, such expectations are ridiculous and frankly, are misunderstood.

Furthermore, these mods completely destroy the integrity of the "MODification" to begin with.

=/

My tC had it

But as others have said - the lighting from above provides enough ambient light and looks good; I think cup holder LEDs would come off too bright or mess with the "mood" created by the factory blue LEDs

on a side note... bottle of water + leds in the cup holders that light it up.. pure awesomeness looking

How would you get power to the lights? Do you use the 12v plug in the glove box by any chance?

I would like this, but the picture looks way too bright, maybe if it had a dimmer that would be nice.

In the arm rest, there is a 12v socket and also a light inside. On the cup holder drill a small hole and run the wires through it and tap the power source of the small light inside the arm rest. That's how I did the foot light on my car.

I would tap them off the heated seat illumination wires, that way they would come on/off with the interior lights (and flash when arming the alarm)...

+ red with black stripe with 2 silver dots
- black

Nope it doesnt have a dimmer. Yes it is a little bit bright. So if you install it you might need to slide the cover.

It also have an on/off switch.

You can add a Potentiometer inbetween the power and LEDs, drill another hole and install the nob so you can dim it to how ever you want.

Anyone have a picture of the rl's rear lighting, I might be interested in looking into that. I do agree more light up front might look ricey, I hate ricey, anyway big pros to Acura for getting it just right with the lighting they did it's a great idea executed perfectly imo
