Anybody use neo-wedge LED's for interior converstion?

I tried to search, didn't find much detail on anybody using neo wedge LED's. All the conversions I've seen have been done using led's w/ resistors using the OEM bulb holders.

If anybody has used these or has any insight to what size I need to go with. Please let me know.

thanks!

I ordered mine from www.superbrightleds.com . They work great and the quality of their product has increased dramatically as of late.

The ones I got were
WLED Miniature Wedge Base bulbs with High Power SMD LEDs

T3-1/4 (#194/168) type bulbs with High Power SMD. Wide Angle LEDs up to 120 degrees. 12 Volt DC

and using this model for the interior lights:
WLED-xHP

1 High Power 6-chip 5050SMD LED, 120 degree beam - These bulbs are Polarized

for the trunk, since the light is at a different angle, I used:

WLED-xHP6-RAC

If my memory serves right, there's 6 in the car, and the one big guy in the trunk. I also used WLED-xHP for the license plate lights.

Others on here use http://www.v-leds.com/ lights, but I have found that the superbrights work much better and are better priced.

T3 bulbs will work well in some locations, but not others. Check the 3G garage for the series by DeathMetal and myself.

Hey Shring,

Thanks for the reply...

The neo-wedge bulbs I was refering to are the ones that are actually installed in the center console (nav, radio, ac/heat, seat heater switches, etc)

DWB-When you replaced your LED's using the soldering method was that because of preference or because you werent aware of the neo-wedge bulbs that were available.

I'm trying to decide which way to go about this, obviously the neo-wedge have the convience of quick "plug and play" so to speak, my only worry is running into issues with fitment (hight of the base and LED-not sure which size to go with)...my other worry is the the lack of being able to adust the LED to eliminate hot spots.

I did this conversion (soldering method) when I had my civic, was super obssessed with eliminating all the hot spots! lol

The T3 bulbs were not available when I first started my project.
Its been a while since I did that work, but I know the T3 are well suited for the HVAC/climate control buttons and hazard switch on the console. They were not suitable for the steering wheel due to the angles involved. You will have to solder in LEDs and then bend/point them correctly to avoid hot spots.
For the radio, PM DeathMetal to see if he is still making the custom LED boards---they are much easier to work with.

i have the wedge base bulbs for my interior leds. i had to do a little soldering to make the leds bend at a 90 degree angle for for light since it wasnt pointed in the right direction.

so far ive used the neo wedge bulbs i have a lsit actually afetr a couple weeks of reserach of where they fit, and they will fit the steering wheel jsut fine since the stock lights in the buttons are the same, you might have to help aim a little but it is very doable, sad thing is as you see from deathmetals posts in the garage some lights will have to be done the solder and resistor way, but i would say about 50% of the lights can be the neo wedge bulbs, just get the 3mm neo wedge bulbs whatever color, i bought mine from superbrightled's, ive been happy with them so far, i went the dollar cheaper way and got the regular ones i dont think its worth buying the high power ones, not a big enough difference to spend the extra money in this economy

Do you guys have any pics you can post? I'd be very curious to see the kind of output and light dispersion you got with these neo-wedge.

Darkfear, would you mind posting up your list. It would be super helpful.
Did you guys use these?

Are there a total of 11 bulbs that can be replaced with LEDs? 2 in the sun visor, 2 up in the center, 2 in the rear,1 in each door(4 total), and 1 in the trunk. I can use 10 WLED-xHP in the interior section and 1 WLED-xHP6-RAC for the trunk, right? Please advise as if this is correct and where can I order these LEDs. Thanks in advance for any suggestion.

heres the list i have compiled dj for the neo wedge, but as i said there are two different types of neo wedge the square and the round bulb kind, square fit anywhere the round fit almost anywhere as i found out today, anyway heres the list:

2 x Seat Heater (unless you want the stock orange light changed that shows high and low then its 6, 3 each switch)
1x trunk release
1x vsa off
1x moonroof switch
1x interior lighting panel
4x cluster around steering wheel ( dim switch and max, etc.)
1x hazard light
3 or 2x seat memory
12 or ?x nav/radio (differs for whether you have no nav like me or have nav)
6 or ?x steering wheel (seems to be two lights in cruise switch side and 2 on mode volume side, then the phone buttons)

daluvdr, check out the "definitive LED thread" or something like that. this is what i ordered. WLED-xHP for the domes in the rear and the front(4), WLED-x12 (something like that) for the door courtesy lights(2) (we don't have door lights in the rear doors) and the reverse lights(2) from superbrightleds.com . and i ordered my vanity lights(1 pair) (one that turns on for the mirror in the visor) and my license plate lights (1 pair) from v-leds.com. i did not order a trunk light.

Thanks for the info. I will definitely do the mods to the interior lights next after I install my A-Spec underbody kit.

Do you need to get any load resistors or is that only for the DRL and turn signal LEDs?

Can't wait to see how the climate control's and centre console came out.

Do you think you're actually not getting any light output from the cruise button location, or the maybe its be blocked do to angle of the LED??

Checked once it was dark the volume mode channel and hfl others are lit just cruise module isn't, not the angle they just won't come on and build are good, when I get back from florida ima test the module, I'm about 75% sure I just got a faulty one from acur, will upload pics for sure tonight of seeing wheel, climate control will be uploaded when I get home

Looks good---what did you use for the heat up and down? Remember, blue + red = nothing...you need to use a white LED for that particular location.
Correct on the blue filter.

uploading more pics now, well dave i used a white button for the auto which is where the heat up and down should get its lights from, at least thats the way it looked, since i went the neo wedge way and not the way of deathmetal for those, these were jsut plug and play as you know using the stock places, only thing that might change it and give it more light from what i saw is to do it deathmetals way or reorder the lights and make sure they send the square kind as you had shown in one of your threads, first time they sent those, second time for some reason they sent the rounded bulbs that were a bit longer, eh im happy with it in pics you cant see, but in person it does light up but very very bague, i cant sodler though for my life so i did what i could, anyways here are the pics of the steering wheel and another of the climate control, as i said the cruise module is out, idk why ima test it within the next couple weeks

climate lights

steering wheel lights, you can see the hfl lights are dim, but thats the way it goes without doing the better soldering way, im happy with it, its not distracting

excuse my spelling i type to fast without looking, and i know it looks like a hotspot on the volume controls, but it isnt, volume has more to light up as channel doesn't , and since im doing it just like stock, one light has to light up both of these, if you want it brighter and a little better i highly recomend doing it deathmetals way, that way each button has its own light, his DIY's are in the 3g garage
