Any of you guys experiencing bad gas mileage due to the heat?
Heat soak? i typically get 300 miles per tank right as the light comes on. Last 3 fillups same gas station(sams) same pump. I've even filled at shell before, same results. I'm currently getting 215-225 It is extremely sluggish in the lower gears. Any help would be appreciated.
I guess my question would be would/can heat soak affect your gas mileage and make your car sluggish that much?

You should also provide your average MPH that the MID displays. Sounds like the MID is showing about 15 MPG in your case? I assume no change in the commute.
I usually fill up at around 270 miles and there are about 3 gallons left and my average MPH is 29 and the MPG reads 19-20 usually. If the car runs sluggish, you need to get it checked out or start eliminating things- one would be A/C as one example. Does the car run less sluggish with AC turned off? That might be a brutal test for you being in Texas but worth a check.

Hot humid weather does kill the power and especially with the air-conditioner running on maximum 100% of the time but I only drop 1 mpg due to the air-conditioner. I go from 27 mpg over all to 26 mpg over all. The MID displays usually an average of 40 mph during mixed driving. It really all comes down to your right foot with this motor.

I also suggest that you take a look into the Ultimate Cooling Mod.

Nope I'm getting excellent fuel economy in my 07 Type S 6mt.
Far suburban miles with no highway at all, a/c on about 90% of the time I averaged 25.6mpg and the MID said 27. Average speed was low to mid 30's. No sluggishness noticed in any temps just normal slightly less performance that any car suffers from in these temps.

The same with a yellow or red light! Don't accelerate to the light, let off the gas and coast to the light. If you time it correctly you'll be at around 20 or so MPH when the light turns green and you won't have to accelerate that much!
When going up hills keep the gas pedal at the same level and sacrifice some speed, then on the way down the car will pick back up it's speed!
Accelerate gently, if I'm in traffic with the TL, I barely accelerate and the car shifts are lower RPM's, like 2500 RPM and I get good enough mileage.

^ I do this like it's my job. It does go a long way! Good post.
OTOH, I too have experienced a slight decrease in the amount of miles that I feel like I'm getting out of a tank. Nothing too drastic... maybe now a conscientious ~350 miles or so versus an effortless ~375+ per tank before. But I do feel like it's decreasing a bit. I wasn't sure why... maybe it's just the heat? I also need to inflate my tires a bit because it's been a month or two since I've checked them. But my mileage issue has been going on for a while and I don't think I've changed my driving habits. Maybe more traffic than usual(?).

i'm in NC and it's been pretty brutal this year (not as bad as TX though), and i've seen a 2-3mpg reduction and consistently experience sluggish acceleration, but parasitic loads (e.g. compressors) tend to have that effect. i take every effort to accelerate below 3000rpm and run the a/c at a very mild temps.

I too have experienced a drop off in about 2 mpg from before and have wondered if the heat (100-110 degrees) has affected my gas mileage. I feel my driving habits have been about the same but the a/c is on about 5 degrees cooler. I doubt that would affect mpg that much. I'm gonna check my air filter just in case since it's been pretty dry and dusty around here, but I feel your pain.

Wow I can't believe you guys are getting such low mpg figures. I am consistently getting 27 per tank going 400 miles normally before filling up. I shift at 2750-3000 in most gears.
Hills are killer, I would do as mentioned above and drop some speed, just to pick it up again on the way down. People do get pretty pissy

WOW this summer is a bad one for everyone eh....
There are couple things you can do:
1> Ultimate Coolant Mod (Free)
2> Coolant Bypass Mod (Free)
3> Intake manifold spacers form P2R ($40 each)
4> P2R throttle body spacer from P2R ($70 from them, I have mine for sale for $50 shipped)
5> P2R throttle body thermal spacer from P2R ($25 each)
6> Insulate your CAI (~$10-15)
The main thing is to keep the under hood temperatures very low....the Intake Air Temp Sensor (forgot the exact name for it) reads the air temp entering the manifold and ECU adjust the fuel (since the AFR is to be constant)....also as we know COLDER air combust better than warmer air....
I do not have any lag (any more)....this is what I have:
(from the bottom)
ported and polished intake runners
ported and polished MDX spacer sandwiched in P2R intake manifold thermal gasket
ported and polished intake manifold
Moores performance throttle body spacer sandwiched in P2R throttle body thermal gasket
AEM CAI which is insulated
Oversized AEM filter
To check if its your ECU/summer heat or something going wrong I would suggest resetting your ECU....AJ (CSMEANCE) has mentioned the gas pedal method to reset the ECU but I usually pop off my battery for 20 odd minutes (please keep your radio/navi codes handy)....If the car doesnt feel sluggish anymore then your good to go with the mods I mentioned.....if after the ECU reset the car is still sluggish then may GOD help you LOL....

Simple things in your driving style can fix the problem. If you see the light has been green for a long time and you are far away, don't accelerate to it! Let it turn yellow and red and simply let off the gas and coast there! When the car coasts it barely uses any fuel.
The same with a yellow or red light! Don't accelerate to the light, let off the gas and coast to the light. If you time it correctly you'll be at around 20 or so MPH when the light turns green and you won't have to accelerate that much!
