there's a mod out there some where...not sure where exactly, but did you try doing a search? it's called the "DRL" mod. Involves a small boxed unit and some wiring...
canadian tl's come out of the factory with fogs running as drl units...

I plan to change mine up a bit from this but what you can do is cut a little after the plugs for the fogs (by the bulbs) and splice into those wires. Run a positive to a switch inside and then back to the battery. Tape up or seal the left overs from the factory harness you cut. Viola. Now you have simple switched fog lights.

....okay I just read 2007 Type-S. Not sure how those are setup with DRL and all but the above method is basic wiring that would work. I'm not sure what functionality you would lose though, if any.

the easiest way, probably is bypass the controller (MICU), tap the fog light relay wire to a new switch inside (can use accord fog light switch).

I can tell you which wire to tap into if you still are interested in doing it.

yea the only way to do it is through the day time running mod.... you cant do it through the switch because it monitored by the CAN system and something would short or back feed another component.... i put HIDs in the lights and threw in a seperate switch for it.

tapping into existing fog light relay should be much safer and easier.

if u use the OEM fog relay disconnect the wire from the electrical system towards the cars foglight switch.....i wouldnt advise doing that though...it backfeeds through the computer.

do you have any diagram or evidence to show it backfeeds to the computer? my experience shows the computer knows nothing about the relay status.

yea i do and ive already runs tests.... ummmmm id say about 2 yrs ago when i got really interested in working it out and making it occur without the headlights being on...because on the 03 it was easily done without headache.
theres a digital pulse that appears on an o-scope...when u pulse the line as its being turned on. the diagram shows very clearly that the lines runs into the multiplex, gets computed and then the relay is activated by the computer.... thats all in the electrical schematic diagram from honda for the car. get the book if u want further evidence im not going on a scanning frenzy right now.
Im more than sure honda uses 2 pulses to activate the foglights.....one by the parking lights to initially tell the computer its on and the other from the headlight relay "giving it permision" to trigger the fogs relay

its very simple really. all you need is a switch and a relay. i bought a relay from radioshack and used the DRL mod as a guideline when wiring the fogs. tap'd into the positive feed for the foglights on the driver side so when i turn on the switch just the fogs come on. ran the power straight to the battery but you can also run it to the windshield washer line for power if you want the lights to come off when the ignition is off. i just found it easier to go straight to the battery.

Just purchase a relay and
hook post 30 to positve battery post
hook post 85 to fog light ground or any ground
hook post 87 to hot side of fog light
and hook post 86 to a postive trigger ( hot side of parking lights if you want them to come on with the parking lights. if you want to be able to turn them off while you have the parking lights on, then wire in a separate switch in this line.

Doing it this way would get your fogs on at 100% intensity

^^ quoted from bhelsdon from the following thread...hope this helps

madd we wanna be able to turn it on witht he OEM switch from the headlight....on the 03 tl u can connect 2 wires and add a diode on the foglight button and make it turn on simply with power from the parking lights so the headlights didnt have to be on but the parking lights did.

on the 04-08 it uses 7 wires at the combo switch to activate certain things like the headlight, parking lights, signals whatever.... now.... when the wires are turned on they go through the computer spit out in a digital format out of combination control unit using 4 wires. those 4 wires tell eevrything else what to do....unless your backfeeding digital code back to the computer "telling it turn on ur fogs....u will blow something out

The only way I see it done right is via a separate switch, where the wiring is done independently.

tek its ok to have the foglight plug, trigger the relay on madds explanation. thats simple it has ntohign to do with the computer. your simply giving it power from another source....but the relay can only sustain what its given so if its fed digital code at 12volts and intervals of 1 2 and 3 millisecs then thats what you will feed the ballast. at some point it has to fail because thats like turning the switch on n off a couple of times in a 1 2 3 ms interval. even tho u think its nothing....technically it is electrical cut off is electrical cut off

I think infamouslink found a way of doing this, by using the DRL module. Using the stock switch.

on 2G it was very very simple, with a separate relay, the stock gave the condition to the trigger..boom..hot sourced from the battery, no fooling of the computer required.

What what changed on the MDX? The DRL setup was used for the fogs?

yes i am, they are only 35 watt HIDs, not 55 watt, been working for a while now and no problems. car has no electrical problems and was in for a full inspection by acura since my transmission died. They didnt say having HIDs in my fogs would cause any electrical problems.

yea but u see the 55watt is ok at its current fuse rating 10 amps. the ballast each require 15 amps of initial starting power draw when they are fully "booted" they run on 15 amps between the 2 of them 7.5 amps each

whether it be an hour or 10 yrs from now it will fail because of the computer monitoring the line.

There's a shop in the bronx that will wire up your fogs on an 07-08 independantly and it will still function using the normal switch. A member on here had it done. His name is Nasty188. Maybe he'll chime in. This is the address I was given:

Explosion Auto Sound
1491 jerome Ave
bronx, NY
Phone: (718) 992-1070

I havn't had a change to get up there and have it done yet though.
