Any No. VA 3rd Gen Owners Use LA Tint (Sterling)
Looking to install FormulaOne Pinnacle (35%) due to Navi, and they said they don't used or install the moleskin. Anyone have experience with these guys on your TL, or who do you recommend and do they install moleskin also? Thanks.

Yo... do a search on this... there have been several threads about that place. There seems to be a consensus about one place in this area being the best but I cant remember which one it is exactly... somewhere right up in MD

I gave them a call and they said that moleskin was not needed. They just really clean the inside of the windows and guides (?) to ensure that there is no dirt in the window area to scratch the tint.
I took my car to a hole in the wall place off of rt 29 and rt 28 in chantilly/centerville...they are the tint guys for Pohanka lexus and acura. They use this stuff called Diamond Tint and did not install moleskin.

I got mine done @ LA Tint in Alexandria/703-360-2804. Ask for Archer and tell him Jason sent you, he should give you a good price. He does excellent work, however he does not do moleskin. I just ordered the moleskin kit and did it myself (was very easy). I called everywhere within a 50 mile radius or Herndon and couldn't find anyone who did moleskin.

Hey jaymd123,
I second that with Archer at LA Tint in Alexandria (Richmond Hwy). I've had 3 cars done by him. I need to go down this week and get my '06 TL done, before heading to NC next for Easter vacation.

So it looks like ceramic tint options are FormualOne Pinnacle, Huper Optic, and 3M ScotchTint Color Stable.
LA Tint will do it for $349 (a little pricey), but who in the Virginia area does Huper Optik and 3M tint?

jay,
Did you do the moleskin b4 or after tint, and where did you order from? Can you also explain how it was done? Thanks.

The Formula One Tint is the best I've seen, it's worth it. Just set up my appt for Friday.
I had a '05 TL and had it tinted by some detail shop in Herndon, I got lazy and didn't want to drive over to Route 1.
It was a good tint job with shitty tint ($225.00). When it was sunny out, it looked like there was dirt and sand it the tint. I know I cleaned the hell out my windows before I dropped it off.
I've learned my lesson, only Archer will do my cars with Formula One.

I just had the Formula One tint on my 2006 TL with Nav. I have had 5 cars done over the years with the Formula One tint and have never had one single issue. The tint has held up well and the workmanship is without some of the best I have seen. I went with the 35% all the way around.

I used LA Tint in Sterling and went with the ceramic at the same $349 (about the most expensive around). It turned out fantastic, and I would have no problems recommending that place. My previous car had the metallic from the LA Tint in Alexandria, and I prefer the ceramic color. It is a bit darker, while the metallic had a grayish tone (metallic had no problems with navi or radio). I had 35% all around on both cars.

Did you install moleskin? Let us know how it turns out with any scratches. There's also a 10% off coupon for LA Tint in Manassas here, not sure if it applies to Sterling location.
