Any difference between JDM and USDM auto trans in '04-'06?

My girlfriend has a 2004 TL with 145k and the trans is gone in it. After getting warm it looses all gears and after shutting it off and turning it back on they will come back for a little while before losing them again. I am going to change the trans myself and I can pick up a 50,000 mile JDM one locally for around $1000. My question is, are there any differences with the JDM trans in these cars or will I be able to just throw it right in there? I know I have heard with some of the other model Honda auto trans there are some critical differences between the JDM and USDM versions. I don't want to find out the hard way that there are differences after I spend $1000 on it.

the 04-08 TL was made in Ohio and never offered in Japan land.
So, there will be no JDM trannies

unless the transmissions were made in house in Japan from honda then shipped to the united states, then ALL transmissions would be JDM

Interesting....I guess they must just be using "JDM" as a keyword or a copy and paste error from their other JDM engines and transmissions they sell? Here is the ad to the transmission: Low Miles 04 05 06 Acura 3.2 TL Automatic Transmission J32A 5 Speed

I'm not to sure where the transmissions come from, who builds them?

see they say they imported it.
so, this could mean it was built in house from honda then just shipped here.

But I KNOW FOR A FACT! that the 04-08 TL was manufactured here in the United States, at the Marysville, Ohio plant and is only an American car.

I would check out Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market

this will give you a listing of local junk yards that do carry the transmission you are seeking!!

So regardless it will fit the car since there wasn't another variation but it I guess I now have to question the state mileage and such on the transmission because it wouldn't then make sense for them to be importing a used trans from Japan if they didn't even use those transmissions in Japan.

Do you happen to know if any other Honda/Acura models used the same transmission?

some one recently swapped an RL tranny into their Type-S.
but the bell housing will be different for a non-typeS and wont be doable for you

the 2nd gen TL'ers are swapping in AV6(honda accord) transmissions.
Dont know if they will apply to us.

I'm seeing the same thing for my '04 Accord. They say you might need to swap the solenoids and gear shift position or something like that. Pretty sure there aren't many differences (if any) between the Accord and TL automatics, at least between the 3.0 and 3.2.
