Any clear coat/paint issues with 2006 TL's?

Thinking about selling my 02 TL-S and buying an 06 6speed manual TL
This car has lived it's whole life in Texas it seems, where the sun is intense.
It is also a black car.

The clear coat/paint on my 02 went to crap starting a few years ago. I want to avoid this issue again (as much as possible with a 8-9 year old vehicle)
This 06 looks glossy, but how worried should I be about clear coat failure?
Is it a known issue like with my 02?
Thanks

I haven't seen too many posts about clear coat failure on AcuraZine.

I wouldn't be worried about clear coat failure as long as you take care of your vehicle's paint. Since it is a used vehicle, you can only hope that the owner you're buying it from took really good care of the car. It will last a long time if you properly clean your vehicle along with taking care of it's paint. Neglect is what gets you the clear coat failure. But this is my opinion based on what I have observed from previous people that I know that have the tendency to not care for their cars. I'm not saying everyone who has clear coat failure neglect their vehicle's paint, but this is my personal opinion from what I have seen in the past from others. Sometimes it's just one of those unfortunate things that happens.

Well, it is a one owner car, the interior looks spotless & new. I see on the carfax report where he had sealant applied at times. It looks like they took good care of the car, but I don't know if it was parked outside all the time or not

I'm a big believer in sealant, but that didn't help on my ABP 02, however, it was starting to have small issues when I got it.

I'm having a used car inspection service check this one out and I told them to pay particular attention to the paint & clear coat. Apparently they can measure the thickness or something

Depends on how the car was taken care of.

I've seen "crows feet" on many of our cars.

I'd be more concerned about the tranny or dashboard.

clear coat is an issue if the owner too lazy to get the car wash often and putting a coat of wax once a year. Here in Houston we have to deal with high level of humidity in the summer along with heat, if you want to know the car park outside or not then look at the headlight to see if it cloudy and also look at the driver seat itself.
