Thanks everyone for your comments. It gives me a good perspective on what is happening with the TL 's elsewhere. I do like the car but do not have the time anymore to keep coming in to get it fixed on their schedule when I need to work my career. I slammed the brakes this morning as noted and still had the squealing continue. I just got home and did it about 10 times as noted above and it still squealed but not as bad. I will see what happened tomorrow. Of course the brakes smelled like burning fire after I drove into the garage tonight. I asked ACura about working the brakes and they thought I was nuts and did not know what I was talking about ( dealer , service manager and National Services about 1 month ago) and they have no answer . But, as I think about it , I think people on this website know more about Brembo brakes than ACURA because I think those posted know more about the car than ACURA.
I know the BREMBO's are great brakes and that is why I was perplexed. But, I think you have the answer.....
Merci,
The Rajun Cajun

I think you'll find the squealing will become less and less the more you drive it. Some have not, but I think most will.
Good luck with it.

I got mine replaced today by tha dealer @ 17,000. Rotors never warped, they developed "blue" spots. I did brake them in propperly and they never sounded bad, untill about a month ago, and the sound was not a screetch. It was more like a metal-to-metal grind at low speed (< 40mph). Above that they worked fine.

Per the link posted above, doesn't the blue indicate the rotors reaching break-in temperature?

I have an 04 6MT with 10k miles on it.

I have mild low-speed brake squeal but it doesn't bother me and they have good stopping power.
The Turzanas suck ass all the time, but even worse in the rain.
I had the rear deck rattle and got it fixed and I currently have the intermittent glovebox rattle that's driving me crazy.
I have buttprints but they don't bother me.
Car runs fine otherwise.

I think so. The dealer did re-surfaced them and put new pads.

True but not this guy's fault. I'm sure they do not explain that to you at the dealer (they didn't for me) when you purchase the car. I'm not sure if it's in the manual or not, but I doubt it. When I get a car off the lot I expect it to be ready to be driven as is, unless I am told otherwise. The only reason I knew the brakes had to be broken in was a friend who has a G35 and also happens to work at the Acura dealer where I bought the car, and this forum.

I also had the squealing problem after breaking them in. The dealer eventually replaced the pads and rotors, all has been fine except the occasional soft braking in reverse lets out a small squeal.

I need some survey information to decide which way to go with my existing car 2004 TL 6 speed which I enjoy driving except for a couple of problems. If you can respond to the problems I am having to see if I replace the vehicle with 2005 TL 6spd manual or 2005 TL automatic ( UGH , i HATE doing that) OR for another car all together.

1. From day 1, in June 2004, this car has had the good old squealing metal to metal loud sound when the BREMBO brakes are applied before a complete stop. ( The noise is louder than the music at volume 35 with windows closed---pretty loud hey) .
2. It has been in the shop a total 7 times for this issue .
3. They UPGRADED the pads per sERVICE BULLETIN 04-119 Nov.2004. And it still continued to squeal as loud.
4. 5 weeks later after the upgrade, I lost my brakes due to the right caliper failing ( falling off after becoming unthreaded ) for two days and the right alloy wheel
had chunks of metal removed due to the failure.
5. They fixed the car and asked t balance it and they told me they did. I noticed when I got home, the right wheel had mass weights internally added all over the place and than noticed the chunks of metal removed from the caliper failure.
6. Took it back again, and they did replace the wheel amd rebalance. Hey , I am the quality control manager and offer my free time to inspect their work !!!! this is getting old.
7. LEATHER SEATS are puckering in 3 out of 4 .
8. Vibration in the car 40-55 mph wheN they do not rebalance the tires after rotations and FROM just good old flatspots with the Turanza's EL42. These tires slide in rain and snow ...NO TRACTION and no all season tire for sure even though it claims it.
9. I talked to national repair center and asked to call dealer to fix it right and they had no answer since the service bulletin never worked.
10. I think the 2004 Brembo DESIGN is defected and engineers at ACura HAVE not fixed it.
I do not want to exchange one problem for another .
SO ANY INFORMATION WILL HELP ME AND OTHERS IF YOU ARE HAVING OR START HAVING PROBLEMS with the brakes, TIRES ( Turanza's EL42) leather seats , or vibrations.
I have only 10500 miles on the car.
I hope the 2005 TL 6spd does not have these problems.

THANKS,
The Crazydrummer of PA
Hey Francois here.I own 2005 tl dynamic and just had a full brake job with factory
parts. My car has 103,000kms no issues with brake noises with stock parts.I think the o5 may be different from the 04 but cannot confirm that. Some one should confirm if there are differences.Good luck with those issues.
