Anticipation

Well..I pick up my AT no nav TL this wednesday...even this 50+ guy is excited.. this will be the coolest car I've ever owned. Got the Michelin Pilot Sp A/S for $300 extra which I thought was very fair...and a great price for the car.. VIN # 62xxx (yipee)

As for colors, I'm hesitant to tell because I know you guys will think I got the most boring combo that they make...but at this point in my life I'm not interested in making a splash to the outside world .. ok, I got silver/quartz.. will you throw me off this forum??

about the stereo.. I have audiophile stuff in my home, so am very sensitive.. I know the dvd audio discs will sound pretty good.. but am starting to read threads that regular CDs sound like crap... could this be true? I just sold an RSX which had the WORST stereo of any car I've owned. (I mostly listen to opera, classical, standards, jazz--and require clean, neutral response)

Anyway..will let you know how it goes on wednesday.

My silver car looks great. More importantly, if you think it's boring why did you buy it?

The stereo's the best factory unit I've ever owned. CD sound is superb.

I am another 50+ guy who had a hankering for something cool and stylish. So, I ordered an 05 TL SSM with ebony interior and Navi. I am sure that your "boring" choice will fuel your passion for driving something classically beautiful...an SSM TL! Enjoy...I am interested in learning about your early impressions, so keep the reports coming. I am particularly anxious to hear about your reaction to the sound system, considering your choices in music are similar to mine.

No, I think it's rather classy..I just wanted to give the younger set on the forum an opportuntiy to diss me for my conservative (not politically) ways..

The silver w/quartz is a nice combo. It is definitely not boring. I think it's classy also. That's the combo I have and I'm 23.
I see a lot of silver w/quartz. It's a very popular combo. Acura even used this combo in one of their commercials.

When my salesman drove my TL out after the prep, I couldn't stop smiling. I just wanted to get in and drive. I'll read the manual myself.

I test drove a TL for a couple of days and listened to the test DVD-A provided with the car. I thought the regular CD's sounded pretty damn good. THe DVD-A did sound better but not quite as good as I was expecting.
As for the RSX having the WORST stereo, try the OEM system in an NSX!! THAT IS AWFUL !!!!

Well, I just passed by the dealer on the way home and our SSM/Ebony/5AT/Navi appears to be in and undergoing prep! I am hopeful we can pick it up tomorrow, will report back with impressions after.

I may be biased, but I love the SSM. Besides, you have to drive the car, so you need to please yourself. Enjoy!

The color combo is great and also common, but it's still a beatiful piece of machinery. As for the type of music you listen to, I think the ELS will more than hold it's own. You'll continue to hear positive as well as negative comments regarding the ELS, but the only one you have to please is yourself......

Enjoy the music and most of all, enjoy the car.......

Congrats on a fine choice and welcome to the club. Mine is SSM/ebony, definitely NOT boring (to drive anyway).

Re: the stereo, I'm too busy driving to fool around with discs. That said, DVD-A does sound awesome but the discs are expen$ive and selection is poor. CDs do sound a bit thin to me. I listen to XM 90% of the time. XM audio quality is barely acceptable, but they make up for it with great selection and no commercials.

Enjoy and let us know your impressions!

I think SSM looks super-cool. It's the only color (well maybe anthracite, too) that makes the car look really futuristic and modern. The other colors just don't portray the TL as well, like everything's really futuristic and modern, except the color. Getting camel/parchment also takes away from this persona, but that 's just my biased opinion. (The Range Rover looks especially futuristic in silver. Saw one coming down the on ramp while i was on the highway and i almost cried :'( Now that would be one cool garage; an 04 TL and an 04 Range Rover.....both silver!
