Anti 2004 TL
Admit it, the release of the 2004 TL will defintely hurt us. Aren't you jealous if one passes you by on the road once it is released. Huh Huh. obviously, for all those 03 owners (except you are really rich) you ain't going to buy another acura in one year, are you? Dont get me wrong, i am not trying to be a sucker here, I am just jealous of those future 04 owners.

Yea, but then if the TL's redesigned again in 2006, most of us should be able to afford the new one and then it'll be the '04 owners who'll look antiquated.
But then again, there's no telling what'll happen by 2006. Honda may just kill off the TL by then

Man, I won't lie I'm going to hate seeing one pass me "literally" with that extra horespower. But then again, there is no way I would get an 04", I would have to atleast wait a year after this complete make over. But hey, if you can afford a new one now, more power to you.

i'm not really concerned with the speed really, as far as i know, NONE of us drive the worlds fastest car, so there will always be somebody faster. for me, its a matter of looks and what fits me personally. like the guy that pulled up to me once in a Volks GTI, yeah, he was fast, but damn, i would NEVER have a car that small, i'm 6'3" !! haha So far what i've seen of the 04, i prefer my 03 in the looks department, and that suits me just fine. My mind might change when i see one on the street, but for now, i'm content....

I'm happy with mine!
From the pics I've seen so far, I think the lines on the '03 are more appealing, more sophisticated, more Acura. The '04 looks like a common Honda.
The upgrades sound good but will they all work right out of the box or will they need to iron out a few bugs? Besides, I don't want a stick shift. If HP is #1 why not by Vett or a GTO? There are lot's of cars that will out run a TLs, some for less money but performance is not all about speed.
Call me snooty but I'll be keeping my car for a while.
I like my '03.

Anyway, I want to see it and drive it first...My issue is that while it may be 280 and have a 6-speed, it may not me all that. Post mods, my car now is a tad quicker than a stock G35 manual and costs a h=ll of a lot less. The new TL-S is still FWD and it will be $35 or more...For that, I'd go RWD and the G35...

Rickman00, why the jealousy ? Just think about those who couldn't even afford a car; you've got the latest model TL already. No one wins all the time. You win some and lose some. This is the way of life.
If you really want to drive the latest, newest car, go for the leasing option. In this way, you can upgrade you car as often as you like, and be on top of everyone (almost) else all the time.

I'll take my 2003 and $5K in my pocket over the 2004 TL. Better to wait a few years for the Type S and to get the bugs worked out of it. Besides, who knows if there will be dealer mark up on those first 2004 TLs.

still a Masshole
Yeah, Those of us with headers and intake will be probably be just as fast if not faster than the stock 04 w/6-speed.
Me personally I'll wait till the 05 or 06 300hp TLS 6-speed comes out! Then I'll custom turbo it!

I just bought my TLS. I could have waited till the '04 came out, but I didn't like the looks of it. Sure, it may look different in person, but the '03 seems classier, pic against pic, and probably real against real.
I will jones about the 6 speed though(except in traffic).

the 2004 TL sucks ahaha it looks like a 2001 Honda Accord. Ohhhhh the twenty extra horses, WOW!!! I wouldnt take an 2001 Accord with 300 hp over my ride cause I got it for looks AND performance not just performance. I like the big body style of my 03 TL-S, not the "new civic" body on a suped up civic ahahhaha

All I have to say is, its just a car..
I mean seriously who cares how much HP the 2004 TL will have or how many new cool features it will have like, Brembo brakes, 18 in. rims, Bluetooth, DVD Audio, LED Brake Lights, Projector HID's, 8 in. Voice Activated Navi, Intelligent Cruise Control, Intelligent KEY, 6 Speed, 280 HP, VTM-4 (POSSIBILITY), Ventilated Seats..
AHHH.. What am I kidding. You guys will be jealous for sure
But than again its like that with every electronic thing, you feel like you have the latest thing until your friend gets something better for cheaper
As many of you know its been almost a year that I have been waiting for the 2004 TL, I guess the wait will be worth it
PS: When I read the title of this thread, I thought it was people against me or something

I said this before and I'm going to say it again. The design of the current TL-S is, at least to me, stunning. It doesn't make a statement, if you will, but I think it has an aggressive stance, yet quite conservative at the same time -- my personality. There's not a single line on this car I don't like. I love every part and line. When I got my car in January, I was aware that a new one was coming out, but I said to myself and everyone else, "The design on this car is perfect for me. I love it inside and out, and Acura's gonna have to pull off something very serious to put me in the next generation TL."
I won't be jealous of the next-gen TL drivers/owners. I'll be happy for them and congratulate them for choosing a nice car, but I won't be jealous at all, because I'm extremely happy with mine.

Yeah I have to admit the TL is a hot looking car, when Im looking at my brothers TL in the driveway he always catches me starring and yells, "dont you wish you could look as sexy as me little brother."
Ass
As far as the 2004 TL goes the rear looks nice but we havent seen too much more of the car, give it some time before you all go drooling over it. They usually change some things before the cars actual release date. But Im sure it will be hot either way.

If u wait one year because you heard about new 5 Speed tranny in 2000, and than the year passes by and than u go to buy the new car, and than u find out a new 2002 TL Type-S will come out with more speed, new styling, and lot more, so you wait 2 years, than you hear about a new A-Spec with indicators on the spoiler, and lot more..
I mean cars get updated all the time, they have to get updated so new people will buy it, and keep the sales going.. If they sold the same thing for 5 Years, Sales would decrease.. Say I wanted a new car (2003) but I find out the 2002 model is the exact same and I can save TONS OF MONEY with only 10,000 miles, well the people who dont care about a car being new will go and buy the old car.. The make it or break it decision is new tail lights or new styling or extra features that might make a New car worth better than a used one..
I dont know if you got what I am saying, but basically I mean, like every other electronic out there, there will always be bigger and better things coming out.. So waiting and waiting will kill you after a while..
But I have to admit I waited a year for the 2004 TL because it was a whole new model, I aint waiting more for a 2005 no matter what extra features it has, I am better off buying the 2004 and trading it in 2008-2009 and get a whole new updated TL

Man! ....some of you guys are just spoiled, first of all, IMO... our TL-S is a classic, like many other Acuras in the past. I know when I see a legend or Legend Coupe (last gen.), still makes me do a "double take." Especially if it's got some nice wheels and lowered just right. I know I'll still look at my TL-S the same way. Even years from now, when/if I'm driving something else.
Second, this past week I had to take my car in for something, they didn't have a loaner car, so, I had to rent one... I just asked for the cheapest car at the rental agency, it was bad enough that I had a Ford Escort, but it was the worst possible color of green imaginable. Even the employee at the car rental place agreed with me (we both laughed about it later). That thing only had 36k miles on it and it drove like sh!t. It was ugly and had no power at all... the thing vibrated like crazy at the stop lights, and that's NOT with the A/C on!!! It was worst once you turned it on! I was kinda embarrassed to be seen in it... I kept parking far away from everybody. Heck! I feel bad just saying that!
The point is... most of you guys are in your 20's, and driving a TL-S, is saying hell of a lot! And you're whinning about being jealous??!!! Listen to yourself man!! You sound like those girls that whin about NOT having the most popular clothes at school, or the trendy hair-do etc... etc.
Get over it! Enjoy what you've got. If you are really regretting the purchase of the current TL-S, then apply that "energy" and go out there make more $$$ and buy the new one when it comes out. (just my .02)

Wow, we really have some heart-felt comments.
I think I want the 04 TL, but will reserve final judgment until we get a detailed spec sheet and some pricing information.
Even if I do not get it, the excitement is second to none.

'99 (model year) released in winter 1998, this is the brand new completely redesigned 2nd gen. TL.
'00 MY released in winter 1999.
'01 MY released in winter 2000.
'02 MY released in spring 2001, this is the minor facelifted TL, 2.5 years later = exactly half way through the 5 year design cycle.
'03 MY release in winter 2002.
'04 MY = another new redesign, 3rd gen. TL.

I don't care how awesome the '06.5 TL/S will look, I'm buying some type of coupe in a six speed. So I'll have a sedan and a coupe in the driveway. Still a nice breakdown Edward!

LOL.. nice topic!!
I actually love my car... and while the new TL has some nice features... I just don't think it's that great looking. Our TL's have a really agressive stance... especially when lowered. The new TL looks like every other car on the road since all new cars are starting to look alike. I will admit that some of the features are pretty hot... but that happens with everything.. cars, stereos, computers, MP3 players, etc. Can't worry about little sh!t like that all of your life.. not worth it.

Huh Huh. obviously, for all those 03 owners (except you are really rich) you ain't going to buy another acura in one year, are you? Dont get me wrong, i am not trying to be a sucker here, I am just jealous of those future 04 owners.
