Anthracite with ? interior
Anthracite with ? interior
Plan to get a 2004 TL in anthracite. Can't decide on Quartz or Camel interior. Ebony too hot for me (in the South). Would like to hear others opinions. Thanks.
Anthratitis: great nick!
And yes I am.
LR - You really can't go wrong with any interior. They are designed to enhance difference aspects of the car.
Ebony - tough guy, but maybe not as tough as NBP
Quartz - contemporary, stylish
Parchment - traditional, classy, luxury look
Camel - a little jazzier, bolder, for us non-conformists!

True, the quartz goes very nicely with the carbon-fiber accents. Which is why those accents aren't found in the Parchment or Camel interiors, but rather are replaced by plood.
That plood is one way many people have made up their minds:
don't mind plood, want a wood look - Camel or Parchment
hate plood, want the carbon-fiber look - Ebony or Quartz

With an Anthracite exterior, I wouldn't even consider anything other than ebony. But, apparently, you have already ruled that out. To each his own. Personally, I don't like the camel interior at all, regardless of the exterior color. I guess I am recommending quartz then.

Tlgator- The reason to get the color of interior is the accent pieces.
Just my $.02.
A number of you already know what I have done to my TL. For those including Tlgator, you are not restricted by interior color to decide between the designated color of accent pieces. I have Anthracite/Quartz/5AT/Nav. I ordered through my dealer the replacement wood look pieces that come original in Camel/Parchment. Then when my car came in, had the dealer install them in place of the Black Carbon pieces. I then added the wood kit available at exoticwooddash.com. So I got the look that I wanted, that Acura said was not possible. I intend to have my car a long time. Being that I spend a lot of my days in my car, it is important for me that I get what I want. I paid for all of it and the additional kit in total, $1100. For me well worth it. Unfortunately the gallery is down still or you could see the result for yourselves. Everyone is entitled to their opinion I know, so no flames please. I did it for me, not for any of you that don't like the idea. A few of the forum members have seen my car in person and between their objective opinions and passer bys that rave, this should be an option through our dealers. I believe Acura is missing an opportunity.

brucedeb - yep, now that you mentioned it again I do remember you talking about doing that. Good for you, no reason to have to compromise in such matters!
What surprises me in this forum is the tone of some people's opinions. We're talking colors here, folks, not religion or politics. Some people take a tone that comes across, at least to me, as implying that anyone's concept but their own is crap when it comes to color combinations.

There is no contrast between the quartz and the anthracite, the ebony looks so much better. I live in S. Cal and I still went with ebony. Yes it will get hot, but quartz leather is going to get hot too. Is there really a difference between 85 degrees and 89 degrees? Get what you think looks good.
I didn't mention the camel because I can't understand why anyone would mix tan with grey.

Get Ebony!!!!
I think it looks better with Anthracite and there is a better contrast between the Anthracite/Ebony as opposed to Anthracite/Quartz. I struggled with the color combo for awhile but chose ebony in the end. Quartz interior goes better with other exterior colors. In regards to heat, if it's hot, it's hot. Don't think the color will help cool the car that much. Anyways, ultimately the choice is yours.

Ebony all the way!
I love the ebony interior...to me it looks better than any of the other colors. If heat is your problem than get a nice tint on your windows...if your not into the tint look you can get the windows tinted with like 50% tint(should be legal everywhere) and that will cut down on the heat TREMENDOUSLY...that way you have the best looking interior with no overheating concerns.GL...
i honestly think that there is really no difference in how hot the seat is in the summer. yeah the sun heats the seats cause its dark. but the car acts like a green house and the heat inside will heat the seats anyway. maybe its like 10-15 degrees cooler but its still too hot to sit on. will still have to run the car with the ac on for a bit.
Anthracite, w/Camel was my choice. But no matter what the exterior color (or interior for that matter), just wish Acura would get their s*** together and figure out a fix (quickly) for this darn vibration problem before I "lemon-law" the TL back to the dealer....
Quartz = Avis Rent a Car. "We're #2, so we try harder."
Camel = Euro luxury. "Remember the Boxter?"
It's all a matter of contrast, plain and simple. If you want an interior that blends-in and looks pedestrian, then quartz is for you. You won't see the carbon fiber, and the aluminum will jump out slightly as it's in the 'grey' family.
If you want an interior that screams of diversity and contrasting boldness, choose the camel. The black dash / black gauges / wood accents / aluminum / camel all bounce around nicely.
Bottom line: You chose to buy the most visually exciting exterior available on a $35,000 luxury car, correct? Then why would you choose anything but the most visually exciting interior on that same vehicle?
Camel or bust.

As far as looks goes, I agree with narco that it's the best look. To each his own...

I like the way the camel looks with Anthracite from the outside, when
you see mostly Anthracite and a bit of camel. But I'd recommend you
sit in the car for a while before making this decision. Once inside and
you are surrounded by camel, IMO it is kind of overwhelming.
Personally, I'd go for Ebony.

I will be at the TL meet this Saturday in Buena Park. Those of you interested in seeing my Plood with Quartz this is a heads up. I will be there near the start time of 11:30a and not sure how long I will stay though.
I second that. Camel gave me an "orange" feeling - too much.
Ebony is really sweet - don't rule it out just yet.

I think that is the part that I could not get used to - all the different colors - wood, camel, aluminum etc. Very busy in there. I liked the Ebony with the aluminum trim etc... but hey, if we all liked the same thing - how boring would that be! My Dad always said - that's why they make chocolate and vanilla ice cream.
