Angry Another victim!

Well I had to go and purchase a Viper Alarm System today becuase some f***in c**k sucker tried to break into my car but must have gotten spooked since all the further he got was taking my key cover off and popped the piece out that the key slides thru. It was nice seeing those two pieces laying under my car when i walked out to it this morning. So alarm gets installed Tuesday morning, so im not gonna be able to sleep the next two nites.... exciting! I know its not going to keep them out of my car but its going to make me feel better knowing ill have something to wake me up if theres an attempt. Lets hope

You should think about getting a backup battery for the viper. Car alarm are very easy to break into.

Are you sure someone really tried to break into your car?

Those pieces have a habit of falling off on their own. There is a TSB for it.

yea because like i said they popped out the piece inside the lock the key slides through, unless that piece easily pops out to but i dont see that happening it latches itself when i put it back on....whats a TSB?

TSB is a technical service bulletin. It's more or less a writeup for techs on a known common issue with a specific car. For example there is a TSB on the rear deck lid rattle because pretty much every TL has or had that issue.

Sorry to hear someone tried to get into your car. Just another reason I will never not own a garage.

i was planning on doing the 350HV because i dont need the remote start so it would be a waste to spend the money for it, and yea it does seem like alot of thefts are going on around here

those pieces DO pop off on their own...well, if you grab the handle hard over time it can pop off when you slam the door closed...check it out and look for scratch marks where a screwdriver was used...if not
you can sleep well till Th.

I don't think that two covers pop the same night! I replaced three of those, but even thought the cap was loose never pop to the ground. Better be safe!! Good luck.

Hearing so many theft stories, i wonder if increasing the severity of the punishment of those caught in action would decrease the number of occurrences. And I don't mean jail time. More like stealing someone's property is signing off on loosing some of your body parts if caught. (I agree, not a great idea if you steal or run a private prison business 'cough..')

I asked myself that very question when I walked into my apt and found out it was burglarized - pure rape if you ask me.

To OP: sorry!
