Another Type S

I finally found a 6speed, it’s 2007 Type s KBP with a 6speed with 138k. It needs some work, but it runs and drives great, engine is quite. Interior needs some work, needs new shifter the top is worn. Needs front bumper, drivers fender, headlight. I checked the carfax it was maintained by the dealer until recently. This is my third type s. Here are some pictures.

I'm going to my local Acura dealership here on Monday, to put an order in for a front bumper cover, fog lights grille(its cheaper online, but the shipping was like 175), I'll pick up the upper Acura grille at the junkyard tomorrow. I'm gonna try to straighten the drivers fender this weekend, if it docent work, ill pick a fender at the junkyard since ill have the front bumper painted. I notice the intake boot is ripped, but i'm going tomorrow to the junkyard there is a regular 08 tl that still has a lot of parts left, im sure I can use some of the base tl parts. I kept looking for a headlight, I just can find a good deal anywhere, I've check car-part.com, eBay, Amazon, etc. Does anyone have any parts for sale? Ill keep this thread updated as I build it back up./

Am I just lucky with seats? Because I'll be honest I don't treat them with anything but a garage when at home and a windshield cover 365 a year when out and about, 120,000 miles on the dot. I could stand to replace/redo the silver shift part of the shifter knob...ideas?

It looks like I'm in the minority, I don't think it's that bad. Hopefully you got it for a good price. I noticed Copart had it listed as an automatic so many people probably overlooked it. It probably hit something on the road like an animal. Not enough damage to mark it as a "total loss", but that's me.

It might not be worth fixing that fender since you're going to have to paint the bumper anyway. Also, It looks like you'll also have to pull it off the car to straighten the supporting metal bracket that's bent.

A lot of 3G TLs have torn seats and cracked dashes. It's not surprising.

No you are not lucky with the seat, you are lucky that the previous owner apply condition the seat regularly. I am dealing with the same issue on my KBP as the leather are too dry to be save at this point, every other TL I have no rip seat because I apply leather conditioner every 3-6 months.

Your right, copart made the mistake listing it as an automatic, there was another manual one 2 weeks ago it went for too much. Even on copart and iaai, these manuals are rare. I’ve been looking since July.

Definitely looks like it'll require a large investment time and money wise; but will be worth the recon.

Got a red fender on there, got all the split wires put back together, reinstalled the factory air intake, the intake boot is torn, but I got a new one coming, can’t wait to get the bumper, I’ll be also changing the fluids as well before everything is put together.

Love builds like this. I've done three in the past year myself (none of which were TLs). My cars were in better condition starting though.

I don't know about you OP, but I'm not a tech/mechanic by trade, so tackling these projects has taught me so much.

Really looking forward to the finished product. Best of luck!

Looks like the plug to the ballast itself.
Great thread...I am cleaning up an 04 myself...my 3rd (technically 4th but I had one twice)...
love the 3G and really do enjoy cleaning it up, picking parts and just fixing stuff in general.

Went to the junkyard earlier today and I found where it plugs in. It looks like it’s maybe part of the alarm system?

I do enjoy a challenge, especially with some of these builds, fixes. I’m not a mechanic, I’m a chemist by education, but I do love to work with my hands, and your right you learn so much by working on cars. Forums like this one, YouTube and a lot of online searching helps a lot .

Quick update

Got the fender on, found a front bumper, fixed the ac as well as the radio. When I went to the junkyard few days ago with my wife, she found the front bumper even though I’ve been to this same car at the junkyard so many and never noticed the bumper, it’s not a type s front, but it’s enough for me to get the car titled. Got a used headlight, fog lights, changed the oil/filter, new battery, now all electronics work, all lights work, except for 1 fog light, needs a new bulb. No check engine codes, car runs and drives great, pulls strong. Now I need to sort out the seats in the car, and find a front grill.
here are some pictures and of the car next to my Audi s4

Glad to see the project coming along, and regarding the seats, for all you ignorant members of this forum, these cars are commonly used to transport Bengal Tigers, that’s why the seats sometimes have a slightly weathered look.

I don’t mean to derail this too much, but I see you have 2 Audis, how have they been reliability wise? For some reason, in my head, they are a money pit. My mom had an 01 A6 with the 2.7T engine, it was mostly fine except one transmission hiccup replaced the entire unit under warranty… we didn’t have that car long though (3 years) but I kinda liked it except it revved way too high on the highway and my dads 1500 Silverado z71 was about as economical.

Audi does make some nice cars, I always liked Audi's, my first car in high school was a 1995 Audi 90. My current 2001.5 S4 with the 2.7TT engine that I have, I can't speak for every Audi, but the 2.7TT does have quite a few issues, the engine compartment is crammed, leaking valve covers, boost leaks, bad diverter valves, at least the timing belt is in the front, unlike other Audis where its on the back side, what a nightmare it would be to change, but when she runs, she runs real good and pulls strong, and its super easy to tune, I got a stage 1+ tune from Unitronic, the car makes really good power.
The other Audi Q7 3.0 supercharged, has been very reliable, i've taken the car to the dealership only 2 times, one for the carbon build up which was a recall, and a pre-purchase inspection, I do all the maintenance myself, and do all the repairs my self unless its something I can't do. Since my ownership on the Audi Q7, i've replaced the brakes, 2 blower motors, vacuum pump, 2 sets of tires, battery. One thing that I hate is that I had to buy so many different specific tools just to be able to work on it.

Audi's I had/have

1995 Audi 90(had)
2001 Audi A6 2.7TT 6Speed(had)
2001 Audi S4 2.7TT 6Speed(had)
2004 Audi TT225 6Speed(had)
2001 Audi S4 2.7TT 6Speed(Have)
2012 Audi Q7 3.0T (have)
