Another tl down =(

So yesterday i was coming home around like 9:30 pm and i made a right turn on to my block and i went 1 house far and someone comes from behind and hits my car.. when i came out he guy was fully drunk and he had missed a stop sign.. he was coming like 35 to 40 mph.. NOWW one question guys i called my insurance company and they told me we not gonna deal with this because it all depends on the other guys insurance company like how much they gonna pay me or what they wanna do... and the car is on my dad name and my name wasnt on the insurance and i have liability..so i dont know what to do i just have to wait for the police report.. what should i do guys ??

You call the other guys insurance company and file a claim. Tell them what happened, fax them the report when you get it, your dad gets paid for the damage. Done.

One more thing. I would suggest either you get full coverage on the car, or your dad adding you to his policy. If this would have been your fault, you would have been SOL.

As long as you got a police report and the at fault drivers insurance info, you should be able to get the damage fixed. I wouldnt sweat it, and u should always carry full coverage insurance for stuff like this. If the guy doesnt have insurance, u might be assed out.

Sorry to see the damage, the guy was moving pretty good! As long as the police were called and a report made stating he was impaired I think you will be alright. Good luck.

You said he was fully drunk, so it can't be that surprising that he rammed into you. . . . And sorry to hear about what happened. Definitely sucks.

Ouch. Glad you're okay.

If you have a police report + other guy's current ins. co. info = claim against his insurance. And your coverage never comes into play. If you don't have a police report and/or he doesn't have a current ins. policy, please clarify. You said you're waiting on the police report, but did they give any indication that it was clearly the other driver's fault and that his intoxication was a factor? The more info, the better advice you'll get from the forum.

Good luck with everything, regardless.

Unfortunately there is no such thing as full coverage. That's a misconception that many people have.

I hope for your sake that the other guy has auto insurance.

Glad your okay. If the other guy was drunk, the police should have sighted him for a DUI. Hopefully that includes a license suspension. That guy needs to be off the roads.

I understand that you don't drive the car a lot, but for a newer car like yours I will definitely get full coverage instead of liability. That's the reason that your insurance company is not going to do anything because you are only paying insurance for you hitting someone else, not people hitting you. Well, hopefully you got the police involved have a written report so you can contact his insurance and get the ball rolling.
