Angry Another TL crappy paint thread...

I have an 04' TL, about 46,000miles, and lately, the hood on my paint has been really crapping out. There are at least 2-3 dime sized spots where the paint is cracking; 1-2 half dime sized spots with slight cracking; and one huge larger than quarter spot where some bird poop landed and is cracking. When I mean cracking, it looks like an alligator skin effect.

This is all on my hood BTW. Just wondering if anyone else has been experiencing this and what they have done to remedy, prevent this issue.
Is there any way, the dealer could do anything?? I understand that there is an five year or something rust-through warranty for our paint; I know that this cracking cannot exactly be categorized as rust-through damage........BTW what kind of damage/defects to the paint would be eligible for this warranty? What would rust through look like?

ACURA TL PAINT SUCKS!!!! I've had a LEXUS GS before and the paint held up nicely to all types of elements, and beatings.....

Yes that is the obvious solution; but will the dealer help me? I mean if the paint wasn't so weak I wouldn't have to do this in the first place.

doubtful... It will never hurt to ask but I think they will just blame it under wear and tear.

Question

Just curious... what color is the paint on your ride? Are the imperfections higher on the hood or near the front where road debris could be the culprit? Are there any on the roof or trunk lid?

I have the exact same problem on my hood as well as my truck. I have a 2004 nighthawk black I believe it's called. Several other people have mentioned this as well. I'm leaning towards believing Acura had a problem with some of their paint.

I have an NBP also; trunk is pretty horrible also, alot of my damage concentrated in the middle of my hood, etc. The bird crap is the worst and I can't really blame Acura for that since bird crap on any kind of paint is like ACID; but the other areas where my paint is cracking is just inexcuseable

I haven't had any problems with my Anthricite '04, but I had a '02 NBP and after sitting outside during a summer rain storm, I ended up with acid rain spots on the hood, roof, and trunk. No matter what I tried, I couldn't remove the spots. I can't blame Acura because the paint job looked fantastic, but the paint was soft because of the EPA regulations passed several years ago that took the lead out of the paint and the solvents used in the past. ALL paint is crap today, regardless of the car brand. I've seen a Bently with acid rain spots. Get used to it, it's here to stay guys. Black is the worst color for acid rain damage, so consider getting a lighter color if you live in areas that have acid rain problems. I haven't had any problems with Anthracite.
