If my memory is correct, if it's cold outside and you enter the car and you set your inside temperature to something like 80 degrees, it takes a while before air comes out of the vents. I am guessing it warms up the air before it starts circulating it in the car. If you have the circulation button on, I think the air, even if it is cold starts circulating immediately. Any confirmation on this happening?

 

If it is cold out and you want your inside temp to be higher, you are correct, the fan will not turn on and blow out a bunch of cold air until the engine warms up to temp and gets the hot enough to heat the cabin properly.

You can circumvent all of this by turning off the auto feature.

 

It wiil blow cold air into a hot car immediately. It will not blow warm air till the car has warmed up to avoid freezing you more in winter.

 

I am just guessing here but, if you have the blower flowing towards the upper body, then it tends to get a little hotter than if you let the defogger work. Not sure but just what i think happens in my car :-)
