Another moron on the highway

O.K.... I'm back with another such thread.

So, I'm driving home from work earlier this evening, doing about 60 mph in the rightmost lane about three car lengths behind a minivan. Light traffic and I'm just taking it easy and listening to the radio.

Out of nowhere, some idiot driving one of those jazzed up Chrysler cars (Charger?) with the loud, rumbly exhaust deliberately veers into my lane and almost sideswipes me before speeding off.

WTF? And I don't even have a Type S! Needless to say, I didn't react.

Anyone else in a 3G TL ever see this type of behavior, where other drivers in certain makes/models appear to view the fact that you're behind the wheel of a TL as some kind of challenge? I'm thinking immature kid, but who knows?

Very aggravating!

Hahaaa I deal with the idiots EVERY DAY & I have a TLS. I guess they are either jealous, consider the TLS a threat or they are simply idiots. I'm going with the last theory. I've seen them all, BMW's, Mercedes, Infiniti etc. they fly up behind me & tailgate, rev their engines. I'm 48 years old, happily married & have nothing to prove.

I one time was sitting on the highway in stopped traffic when we started to move this semi came up on the right lane comes just parallel to me and then starts to shift lanes, not once did he stop just kept coming over. Only reason I didnt let him hit me is because i love my car. so i threw a soda at his truck since he knew good as fuck I was there since i was ahead of him originally in the left lane.

Yep, same here... I'm 47 and just want to enjoy driving a comfortable, reliable, good-looking car. But like you said, there are always dbags out there who will think you're just trying to prove something when nothing of the sort is going on. Grrr...

You think just because you drive a "TL" all these incidents of road rage / challenge is directed towards you specifically because you're in a "Acura TL" ??

Don't get me wrong, I love my 3G just as the next guy does but please don't try and flatter yourself. This happens to people all the time no matter what make and year model they drive. This isn't something "exclusive" to the TL as you make it out to be.

I've had my TL for nearly 3 years now and majority of the TL drivers I see are women in their 40s+. I do not see a reason why some other driver would see a TL and say to himself "Let me screw with this guy because he's in a TL"

Excuse me, but I've seen this type of behavior often enough in the nine months I've owned the car to at least be asking -- what's going on here?

I NEVER encountered this kind of behavior when I was driving a V6 Accord. I bought this car because it's a Honda product, not to try to prove anything.

Whatever. Like I've already said, I'm happy with my five-year old TL. I hope the driver of the Charger feels a little more pumped up this evening after that stunt s/he pulled.... all I have to say is "whatever".

Come to NJ & drive, people are sick in the head. I keep my silver TLS spotless inside & out & has the Acura body kit. There are endless drivers who feel they have to prove something all the time & its getting worse. I'm not talking just about drivers in their 20's either, its all ages. I ignore them, for the most part. People drive aggressively because they know they can get away with it. I just had a woman in a minivan in south jersey ride literally inches off my bumper in a rush, I could see her in my mirror looking like she was gonna have a stroke, I could also see she had her son in the back seat. I did the speed limit & ignored her which only made her more impatient. She passed me & a 1/2 mile up the street she pulled into a rock camp parking lot, obviously late. The highway is one thing, but side streets I do the speed limit, I always have the thought of a child going out into the road.

Karma bites back.... A douche is, well...was a douche once.

A small problem you have and spill it on a forum tells a lot about your characteristics as the man you are. Seeing that you carry this along with you is bad on your health and could very well carry on to road rage that could.... meeting with the wrong car, could result in death or serious injuries.

At least you didn't react to it OP. Reading some of the comments here I'm all over the forum and the 3G section, I swear is a bunch of ball busting with some sarcasm on the side.

Though there are some nice cars in the photo section.

people just can't drive in Indiana. Almost as bad as NJ.
I typically travel to Indianapolis, ( specifically AVON ) and the amount of stupidity I see on the road makes NJ drivers seem like pro. drivers.

a lot of stupid people out there.

bad driver is a bad driver. it's just coincidental, psychology calls this a spotlight effect.

the other night i was driving in the #2 lane (#1 being the HOV lane) and a motorcyclist passed me going at least 120+. I was doing about 75 and he blew past me and was out of sight in seconds.

At no point was i under the impression that he wanted to race.

A CHP charger cut into the HOV lane just behind me chasing the guy.

does not warrant a thread. This shit is common knowledge.

I hate to sound defeatist, but our society is entirely fucked in a bad way, in large part due to people's "memememememe" behavior and mentality. Sadly this is showered upon them in many aspects of life. Do you ever see car commercials? What do you think they're selling?

"Introducing the MOST POWERFUL <insert shit-tastic, POS family car here> EVER. <queue shots of the car racing around a closed street with serious music so you know they're serious! > "

what do you think that shit is? People are CONDITIONED to think they own the road and can do whatever the fuck they want, and there are no consequences and there is no obligation to have consideration for other people. Ever. It's playing into the "i'm better than you" mentality, 1-upsmanship if you will. The problem goes much deeper than this.

god damn i need to stop watching Zeitgeist.

I Love Cars hit the nail on the head! EVERY car commercial depicts someone driving like a nut case, the Volvo one annoys me, the one where the mom drops her kid off at soccer & she takes off like a bat out of hell. These commercials instill the thought of: You're the best, show the world you are & F&*% everyone else. Sadly people do it.

Lol, loser. No one was trying to race or ask you to prove anything you're doing 60 and there was probably someone doing 60 in the fast lane and that guy was going around.

Well, I must disagree strongly with this post!
The guy is not flattering himself. People do see the TL as a challenge and it can invite fools like this to challenge you - especially or maybe just the Type S.
My 08 type S 6 speed with A-Spec kit invites these type of people in Infiniti G's , camaros, and Chargers often to challenge me. Even idiots in trucks with 5.7 L engines seem to hate the sporty type cars.
I can't imagine seeing a woman in her 40's driving my TL type S 6 speed with a Acura body kit. 50% of people can't even drive a manual transmission nowadays.

OP:
I believe you, that person was looking for trouble and trying to incite you. You did a good thing. If you had the type S you could have responded and smoked him!

commending him on a great job not responding to the instigator

This thread is a joke. I really don't see the need to come and cry about an aggressive driver. There will always be those kind of drivers no matter what you drive. Maybe if he actually hit you, you could come on here and ask how to go about handling the situation, but he was probably just swerving around a slow car in the fast lane.

judging from Op's pic, his car is stock. You know how many Tl's are on the road non modded. This charger would be cutting off cars left and right. he didn't single you out.. he was late for work lmfao.
