Another LED question...

So I've been lurking with the odd post for months and haven't seen this asked/answered. So here's hoping for atleast a somewhat new question lol. I was reading somewhere and someone was talking about using red/white leds for the interior (just domes I think) where you press the light on once for red or twice for white or something along those lines. It seemed red would be nice to use while driving at night, but I do like the whites for tying to find anything lol.

So here's my idea/question. You have the switch to turn your domes off when doors open/on when doors open/just on or each dome independantly with a push to the dome itself. Can I rig up an LED setup where with the three postion toggle/open doors they light up white but with a push on the dome itself they come on red?

Thanks in advance, Mak

Can it be done?
Simple answer: Yes

Realistically it will require switching out the current push-buttons you have in the domes to 'two-step' buttons and may require building a small circuit to know the difference between button presses and door triggers.

Hmmm well now I'm more intrigued, guess I'm off to find some more info. Any links for information, or dealers of the needed supplies would be appreciated.

if you're inclined to take on a little project and a little experienced in building at the component level, check out digikey.com and partsexpress.com. Those are my two main sources for parts.
