Am I screwed???
Hello guys~! I am scheduled to have my first oil change for my lovely TL that has little over 5000 miles. I've read the manual and it says change oil after the indicating show on the car but I can't wait...If it wasn't for the manual I would've done the oil change around 3000miles...Am I screwed now? I am worried because I've researched some threads and a lot of members recommanded the first oil change to be at 3000 or less miles because there is engine particles...Hmm...
Thanks for any inputs...
P.S. when your wiper fluid goes out shouldn't the indicator show?
I know even Civic has that and it seems like my TL doesn't have that option included~!
I should go tell them about it tomorrow...

I dont think your screwed, but what i'd do is drain it all and put a change of really cheapo oil in with a new filter then run it 20 miles so it mixes with the residual stuff sitting around. Then change it again with a new filter and get on a 3k mile oil changes till you get 12-15k miles.
The reason why you should change it when the engine is new is to get rid of the extra metal particulates floating around in the oil so it doesnt scratch cylinder walls, bearings and other moving parts. The worst thing that could happen would be a little extra blow by if the cylinder walls are scratched and extra wear might have occured on bearings and cam lobes/etc.

I would not be concerned. People seem to over do oil changes and neglect things like coolant, transmission and brake fluid changes.
I would be if you follow the MID, you will have years of trouble-free service.

We don't have a low washer fluid indicator on our US cars. Canadian cars do, but for some odd reason ours don't.

As everyone is saying, I dont think you are screwed at all.
think about it this way, if it were really that important for the car to have an oilchange in the first 3000 miles or so then Engineers at Acura would have recommend it.
on the contrary I have read manuals saying you should not change Oil early since the first oil fill from the factory has certain additives in it that help the engine break-in with ease without excessive wear and tear.

Thank you so much guys...
I've just came back from the dealer...Had a wonderful customer service experience...I was kinda worried about the service because of a lot of bad customer experiences that I read in this forum...But my first hand experience was great~! Thank you so much and now I can calm myself and just worry about how to enjoy my lovely TL~!
