How does this deal sound to you?
2007 TL base silver black interior, excellent condition, North Carolina one owner with 80k miles all service done at dealership it was born at for $9,411.00
This is AFTER negotiating but "they can only take $250 off."
I'm having to put 2,000 down due to my bank saying that its worth less than they're selling it for... That was going to be the money I use to put into in my current daily (2003 TL-S. Needs motor mounts, new tires, etc etc. still haven't done AV6 swap either)
SOO..
after much thought I have 3 options:
1.) sell my car to have the down payment and be able to mod the new one a bit.
2.) don't buy the new one and put 2 grand into making it mint, continue to have no payments
3.) … be broke for a few months to have 2 cars … (option im leaning towards)

So KBB puts the range at $6,497 - $8,154 for me, and I'm in the expensive Bay Area. You'd be paying from 14-30% above market for as a sentimental tax. Really, only you can say if it's worth it.
The practical person in me says that it's not anywhere close to a deal, and you're putting yourself in a worse off position (additional maintenance, insurance, MONEY, etc). I don't like short term gain over long term pain. Having no payments is also nice. But if it makes you happy and you can handle it, then you only live once. Doesn't sound like you need two cars, but that can also factor in.

You can find used TL type-S's for 6K with higher miles.
With your 03 TL-S, If the trans is good to go and rebuilt I'd say get the mounts, good tires, etc. If the trans might go out soon, it's better to invest the money on something newer. The 3G TL is known for trans issues, the 4G TL has been pretty good! you can find 2010 TL's in the 10K range

Pass on it. Assuming you're in NC there have been plenty of clean TLs listed and sold in the past year since I bought mine on Craigslist in Charlotte. For some reason dealerships are able to sell used 3G TLs super quick so that may be why they won't go down on the price. I had a similar experience when I was shopping. Test drove 2 from the dealership, they wouldnt budge much on the price but kept in contact and both sold within 1-2 days.

That's a little high, but I paid $8900 for my 2008 base with 103K miles in June 2017.
If it were a TypeS I'd go for it!
It's not an awfully high price for a nice TL, but getting a loan and having notes combined it just feels too cumbersome to consider.

I paid 7.2k for mine last June. 2007 CBP with 96k miles with no issues other than a broken fog light lens. Dealer wanted 9.1k for a very similar car with 102k miles and no paperwork on the timing belt though they said it had been done.
If you're in NC I would go check this one out. Seems weird that at that price it hasn't sold in 12 days but it looks like a good deal if everything checks out. Has the front/rear a-spec kit as well. https://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto...937043908.html

yike, $9.4k for a base TL? I paid less than that for a Base TL with Nav having 40k miles on the clock 2 years ago.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and experiences!
I slept on it and decided to back out. If I'm going to fork out all that money, it needs to be for a Type S.
I will wait and fix my car and do all the mods it deserves.
Thanks again and have a great day everyone.

Good decision. That TL is way overpriced. A fair price would have been $6-7k. The dealer probably paid around $4k for it.
Your option 2, sounds like the wise and logical choice.

This car has some mods already... Some buyers don't like that, but it looks like a good car.
