An Alternative To HID fogs

So I was searching around on a Porsche website and came across this company called Hoen. They seem to have really good bulbs that match HID lights without doing the conversion. For only 40 bucks I am going to order them and see how they are. I think I need a H-11 bulb so hopefully that will work. I guess now the decision is to either get the match of HID or go with a yellow. What do you guys think?

Here is the website.

Wow this is exactly what i have been searching for. Not the HID matching, but for their Höen Endurance yellows. I may even have ot spring for the city lights.

Very nice find especially since they have fitments for the 04+TL

I'm gonna try to go for the "JDM" look with the yellows. Gotta make a switch to cut on the fogs without regular lights on.

I have an '04. Which bulbs would I need for fog replacement? Also, how hard is the bulb switch?

Hmmm...the hoen bulbs require an upgraded wiring harness for optimal performance...I'm thinking PIAA Xtreme Force 4700K H11 bulbs for $90.00... What do you guys think?

I was about to order the bulbs then I read the statment at the bottom which talked about the use of your information. I clicked on the privecy statment and it sounds to me like 2CO the payment website will send your information to different business. Maybe it is normal privacy legal jargon, but I felt uncomfortable giving them my info. I then noticed you could only order these bulbs online through the website.

Has anyone recieved these bulbs yet? Or has anyone read the privecy statment and think it is normal? I have been looking for yellow fogs for a while an these seem like what I want. I wish I could just use paypal.

I have ordered bulbs from them for several different cars the past 3 years with no problems at all... I have never needed a new wiring harness and they are a huge improvement over stock, and I even like them better than Silverstars.. I had them in the fogs of a Murano with HID's and they were a very close match, even had a slight blue tint to them... I am currently running them in my 06 TL fogs wth no problems.

Okay, so I placed an order on the xenonmatch bulbs...I was thinking about going titanium xenonmatch, but I thought I'd play it safe and stick with the stock wattage @ 55... Btw, the size is H11's for the '07 TL-S as confirmed by Hoen representative, but it appears that H8's also works for the 07's as others mentioned. I got H11's just because the wattage is 55 vs. 35 (h8). I'll post pics as soon as I get them installed.

Just thought I'd mention that Hoen's customer service is pretty good. No long wait time on phone and the rep fixed my problem under a min! I initially placed my order of xenonmatch bulbs in H8's, but then I found out about the H11's after so I called. The order was cancelled and I just needed to repurchase the correct size bulbs! Not bad for a brand I've never heard of...lol!

I believe so. I highly doubt Acura would go that far to differentiate the two for something little as fog lights. lol. Dude, even if they take H8's, why would you resort to somethign with less wattage? I'd opt for the most wattage possible so I can get a decent visibility of the ground, ah! I think Hoen ships from Ohio...hoping to get it by this Friday. I'll even take pictures of the case and bulbs before installation so you guys can see...the website is missing the box and stuff.

I've ordered bulbs from Hoen for my past several cars. They have a nice product and they have good customer service as well. I always go with the Yellow "All-Weather" bulbs, but I only drive with my fogs on in low visibility conditions.

Which Model do you have installed? I purchased the Xenonmatch factory wattage (55w) H11 bulbs. I was thinking about the Titanium version for the 12% increase in lumens, but I just don't want to risk melting the housing by going above the suggested factory wattage...Anywho, post pics if you can!! I'll post mine as soon as I receive my bulbs. I placed the order yesterday and received confirmation today with the delivery confirmation number via USPS Priority Mail. Oh, and customer service is absolutely pleasant! If the bulbs work, I may become a repeat buyer!

I got my yellow bulbs today in the mail from Hoen. They look really good. I will try to post a picture later. They look like the HID 3000k bulbs other people have. and they are really bright. I am very happy and will not change back for now.

I gotta say, that it looks like the pictures don't do it justice voigt, but I'll take your word that they're brighter in person. It's probably like all the LED pictures that people try and post....pictures never do lights justice.

Question for you guys, do you really think the titanium series will melt the housing? I don't think it will, but am debating about whether or not I want to be the one to find out. I have an 05 TL, so my fogs are in the same housing as the headlights. I would assume that the housings have to rated for high heat, just because of the HIDs. Any thoughts? Really, I'd like to get the titaniums is what it amounts to, but you guys now have me paranoid about messing up my headlight housing.

In all truth, HID's burn a lot cooler than standard traditional halegon bulbs...you can wikipedia/google it if you're still skeptical...AND, most enthusiast members would agree I'm sure. Anywho, one member did install the Titanium model on his TL (not sure which year, but it's 3rd gen.) and said he had no problems whatsoever. So basically, it boils down to you just chancing it...I personally would be better safe than sorry, lol! Again, that's just me, so you don't have to take my word for it. I've done some google search on bulbs and this one dude with an MDX or something had his housing melt due to higher than factory wattage bulbs being used... just simply call Hoen and speak to a representative. I'm sure they'll tell you if your car will handle it or not.

--Voigt, I just saw a TL on the freeway on the way home with the same setup. LOL! Well, not sure if he had Hoens, but it was yellow for sure, and it was in a 3rd gen. TL, just not the '07. Man, I can't wait to get my bulbs! It should be here on Friday FOR SURE!! Gosh, getting tired of the yellow fogs when pulling up to a store with windows where you can see the reflection of your lights. lol!

These are the endurance bulbs, it took two days to ship. The biggest thing I noticed was when I was sitting at a light the grass next to my was yellow not white. Also when passing cars their car would light up yellow. I think these might be brighter than stock although I am not sure. All I know is that the cutoff of the HID's is not a bad anymore because these will give a little mor light down the road, might just be a mental perseption though, everything is always better when you put something new on.

By the way I switched from Philips blue ion bulbs, which had been the closest match to the HID I had found. I had too many people high beaming me thinking my fogs (04) were my highbeams.

Hey guys,

I just installed a set of 3000K HID's in my TL-S a few days ago. I ran a SEPERATE wiring harness and relay to the lights, so I don't have to worry about the factory wiring melting, and it's a fused, reliable source.

It's yellow, but not as yellow as I wanted, so I also bought the Clear Guard fog light kit, with the yellow film. We'll see how it turns out!

Well considering the cost to replace a headlight housing, I don't think I'll chance it right now. I'll probably go with the xenonmatch ones. They're pretty close to factory, so they should do. I'll probably order next week, I'll let you all know how they turn out.

I got my Hoen endurances and xenonmatches (55W) today.

Here are the endurance yellows.

Sorry I don't have a picture of the fogs head on since my camera fone doesn't really know what to do with all the brightness and my digital camera fell into the porta-potty at Cornell so here's a picture of the endurance yellows on a wall.

And here are the xenon matches. They did a little better on my camera fone head on.
It's slightly bluer if you really look at it, but from a distance they blend perfectly.
Stock fogs on YOUR left and xenonmatches on YOUR right.

Are those H8's and stage 1 or stage 2? Did you change the wiring harness? I checked their site and stage one indicates 70w whereas stage 2 is 100w...

I actually like the comparison picture, because you can see the difference pretty well, even though the quality isn't there. I know what I'm going to go with now! Is there anything you don't like about the xenonmatches bforbrian?

saiwahhh, did you get the H11's based on my recommendation or did a Hoen rep. tell you? I apologize in advance if you bought the H11's due to my posts...I was mislead by the Hoen rep. who assured me that H11's were the correct bulb size for my '07 TL-S...I'm going to send my bulb out today or tomorrow for a replacement...

As for the installation part, yes. Just follow the manual instructions in the maintenance section. In all, you'll just need to remove 3 grommets and one bolt for easy access to the side you're working on. Follow instructions and you'll be fine.
