Here is the story, I'm sitting at my desk at 5pm getting ready to leave because I have to go up to Mass with the GF to have dinner with her family. All of the sudden I hear glass break, and I'm like WTF, so I look out the window to see this piece of **** with his head in my passenger window. On reflex and sheer RAGE I run out the front door of my office and yell "Hey mother****er", and dude jumps on his bike and starts to take off. I instinctively chase after him and we're in the middle of a busy road in Hartford, and I manage to grab the tail of his hoodie and pull him off his bike. He falls and drops my GPS, and a screwdriver (which he used to break my window), I grab my GPS and he grabs the screw driver, at which point I figured if I go any further I'm going to get stabbed. So I went back to my office and called the cops.

So I don't know if I can caulk this up as a win or not. On one hand I managed to chase the thief down and get my **** back, but on the OTHER hand my ****ing window got busted out and I have to pay out of pocket to fix it (deducible more than cost of glass).

Either way, I'm ****ING PISSED!! You can see in the pics where my GPS was mounted, yeah I'm a fucking idiot for not taking it down, but I guess I never thought someone would be stupid enough to do it in broad daylight, on a busy road, in front of an office building. I ALWAYS take it down at night.

Wow. Its sad what thieves feel entitled to...you know if you tried to break their window and take their stuff they'd be pissed. Glad you were able to get your GPS back, too bad about the window though. Did the glass shards screw up the interior?

 

Naw man I was lucky. I didn't touch the glass on the seat and I'm not going to until it's getting vacuumed up.

 

I feel for you, dude. The same window was busted out on mine, but the tint save it from being all over the place. I hope you were able to get a description of the mf'er during the scuffle.

Good thing is that the thief didn't get what he wanted...might be deterrence for later.

My 07 TL was just broken into yesterday afternoon. But I'm grateful to the burglar for just taking my inexpensive digital camera, a roll of quarters and some cologne that was gifted to me. He left the car as he found it, clean. I know I locked it so I think remotely -without going into details- he captured my FOB signals. That is why from now on, I will use the key and never use the FOB in public areas. The door was unlocked and the alarm never went off. Even the thieves are high tech these days.

Not sure yet, it was just the passenger window so I can't imagine it will be that much, and I'm going to pull the passenger seat out to make sure I get all the glass out of the car.

Make sure that you get OEM quality glass, as I know someone who reportedly had to replace his glass and it seemed to work fine for a few weeks then he started to have problems with it.

 

Nothing will stop a crack head who needs a fix....Nothing in plain view inside a car is safe, no matter where you are parked. I never even leave my cheap $14 sunglasses out.....

since you are taking out the passenger seat you should probably take out the door panel as well. sucks alot when you close the passenger door and hear shattered glass all the time.
