Air filter replacement

Can someone point me to some instructions on changing the air filter(s) in an 06 TL? The manual doesn't have any info and I can't seem to locate any info here either. Maybe I'm blind? ;-) Also, how often are you supposed to replace it? Thanx.

Never mind - I figured it out - I got confused because I kept hearing everyone say that the intake was behind the front driverside tire. What a stupid design by Honda - to squeeze the filter up in between the battery and fuse-box and to connect it to the intake tube so you have to wrestle the entire assembly to get the filter cover off and the filter out. Why not just give it a nice simple flip open door so you could slide the filter out?

Anyway - suggestions on type of filter - will a Fram or Purolator do?

Thanx, mod - I didn't see the garage.

Fram or Purolator should be just fine. A K&N Drop-In is also an option. You can use it for the life of your car.

Replacement intervals vary largely on what type of driving you do. I change mine every 15k-20k miles and it's usually pretty dirty at that point. Rule of thumb is that if you hold it up to light you should be able to see light down between the pleats in the filter for it to still be good to use.

I change both my engine and cabin air filters once a year which generally works out to around every 14,000 miles. I inspect them each time to see if I need to vary the interval. The cabin filter is usually the dirtier of the two.

I just did the K&N drop in filter change and I couldn't help but notice how much thinner the K&N was compared the the stock filter. When I droped it in it fit perfectly but I was thinking the whole time that this think is going to jump around in here because its thinner. Oh well, it works and the car is breathing better so who cares.
