Air Conditioning - Climate control question
I did a search on this but couldn't find anything specific to this question.
I headed to South Carolina and had the climate control set @ 68 degrees. I later opened the sunroof for a few minutes but the car got too hot so I closed it. I noticed that the temperature was not dropping and the car was still quite warm, so I took it off the "auto" mode and tried to cool it rapidly in manual mode with the A/C on, fan set to full speed and the temp set to low below 59 degrees. The air was not really very cool and the fan was really weak in its output and I could not cool the car. After I got to my destination, I went back out later that day, and everything seemed fine again in the manual and auto modes. This is the 2nd time this has happened in the year, I've owned the TL, where the A/C is not blowing cold air and the fan output at the highest setting is very weak. Next time in the car the problem was gone and everything seemed fine again. Any thoughts on this??
Thanks

i might have a similar problem with my 04. If i just turn the car on with no indication of a/c on or off, it blows out ice cold air. But as soon as i push a/c button the thing says a/c on, but its blowing warmer air than before. from now on, i leave the a/c at 68 auto and it makes the car much coller. THis dosen't make it too cold or hot for me, and if it does, i can just adjest the temp with the up/down arrows.
Let me ask you.. did you notice any moisture smells? As in an order of humidity buildup? Were you using recirculate and not outside air?
If so, you probably had evaporator freeze up. Ice can form on the evaporator to the extent that you no longer get cool air and the fan speed is reduced. If this happens, turn the A/C off, run the fan on the highest speed, and make sure to set the air source to outside.

My 06 did this to me last night, except I was looking for heat. I changed the mode to use the dash ducts. The center driver's side duct was very weak. There isn't a shut off switch for that vent and I angled it every which way.
I've only owned the car a month, and this is the first time I used the heat and I was major bummed that I didn't catch this problem before buying the car. I had a terrible thought of the techs having to rip the car apart to find the problem.
This morning I tried it again and it was fine?!?

Well at least I'm not alone! Southern Boy, I didn't notice any odor but I will heed your advise and see if that helps. Has anyone taken their TL to Acura service for this problem? Wonder what they were told.
Mine gives me all kinds of similar problems. On long trips things will be fine then all of a sudden the temp will turn warmer or colder. I had the master control unit for the climate control system replaced earlier this year. I'm not sure it's made a difference- we'll see when winter arrives.
There are times when it's shooting different temperature air out of all the vents so I can be both sweating my a$$ off and freezing at the same time!

I've also seen this problem in homes. My oldest daughter and her husband moved into a townhome some years ago. One morning she called me saying that her A/C was not working. I went over and the first thing I saw was a clump of ice surrounding the low pressure fitting on the compressor unit. I turned off the A/C and turned the fan on full. Then I checked the filter and it was DIRTY in the worse way. Once this was changed and the evaporator was dried out, the unit worked fine.
Oh, there was nothing wrong with the '91 Accord. A drying out of the evaporator fixed the problem and it never returned.
