First let me say, I am a guy who enoys air conditioning more then most people. I even use it during the winter, because I love fresh cool filtered air, in my home and in my vehicle. I love the way it deadens the outside world noises, and I think much better in cool dry air.
So, where I live it has been close to 100 degrees a few days with the ultra high humidity we get up in the mid atlantic states.
All I have to say is my 05 tl, black on black, has got the best cooling capacity of any vechicle I have ever had.
During this hot weather, I drove my two other vehicles(toyota sequoi and jeep liberty), and had to have the air on full bore, full fan speed, to maintain my desired coolness.
With my tl, I had it on 68 degrees with the fan setting on speed number four, and I was as cool as a cucumber.
Now I dont know if the a/c filters on the tl have anything to do with it, but the quality of air in the tl, is far superior to the other two cars. There is a sort of purity to the air quality, and while being cool and crisp, not musty or chemically. Totally delighted with the climate control system.
Even parked out all day in the sun, when I am at work, withing three or four minutes, I am in the north pole once again.

I'm glad to hear lot of people like air conditioning in our cars. I live way up north and I don't get to use air conditioning often. I can definitely smell the crisp air when cruising in the city with air conditioning on. I almost feel like driving brand new S class or Lexus.

By the way, does anyone know if air compressors in cars have "high" or "low" running mode? or is it on or off only?
