Air Cleaner Element

Anyone know of a diagram or instructions for changing the air cleaner element? I am *shocked* that there is no reference to it in the manual. Drumming up more work for their service dept.

This thread has some pics of the housing. Unscrew all the screws and remove the top

Sorry I didnt have time to find a better thread. You can see the bottom part of the air filter housing in the first pic...air filter goes in there and is covered up by the top part you see when looking under the hood.

From the 3G Garage. The two clips that hold the wire loom to the filter housing, at the end towards the passenger side, are sometimes hard to get loose. I used a small screwdriver to pry underneath and break them loose.

Best way to remove the loom from the fittings on the housing top is to pull them straight back towards the engine, away from the housing. The hole in which their clips fit is slotted so pulling them straight away (to the left as you face the engine bay) should free them up pretty easily.

One other thing. If you are replacing the engine air cleaner with an OEM Honda/Acura filter, please note that this is a composite filter.. hence the high price. The bottom of the filter (the side which is windward - i.e., facing away from the throttle body) is oil wetted and the leeward side (the one which faces the throttle body and is placed in the "Up" position) is a dry paper element. DO NOT install this filter opposite of what I just described!
