Aftermarket spoiler options?

Hey guys, I am looking to buy an 04-05 tl for my wife. I will be looking at one this weekend that does not have a spoiler...she really likes the spoiler. She likes the standard spoiler as well as the little lip spoiler. I see that plenty of people on ebay sell the lip spoiler for cheap. Does anyone have experience with any of these? If not can you point me in the right direction. I am only interested in factory style spoilers. Thanks for any advice.

Buy a Type-S spoiler...expensive but the best looking one IMO....

Ebay ones are cheaper (~100 compared to like 450) and from what I hear the paint matches pretty good too...plus it just stick on your trunk so no holes to drill...

yeah I prefer the lip/type s style spoiler I am just trying to find out if there is a reputable place to pick one up for a decent price. I was hoping to find people with experience with an aftermarket/oem syle spoiler.

is there a reputable seller that sells the type s, style lip? Most of what I am seeing are those universal M3 type lips.

I think the genuine type s spoilers require drilling correct? I was hoping to find an aftermarket because I was hoping it would only attach with mounting tape as opposed to having to drill the trunk to make it fit.

You dont need to drill though....can just double sided tape mount it....honestly the eBay ones are your best bet cause otherwise you are gonna spend another 350 dollars at least when compared to the eBay ones...

The type-s lip does require drilling if I remember correctly.. I bought the wing spoiler for my 08 base from Tim from http://www.oemacuraparts.com/ which was around 500. That also required drilling trunk holes. If you go any OEM option it will require drilling.

Ebay is definitely a cheaper option just need to be careful of the seller.

They require drilling to install them via Acura's instructions...but many member have grinded off the bolts and just double sided taped them. This way they can be removed and sold before trading in/selling the car without any damage to the trunk

I bought mine on ebay. Paid right around $80 with shipping if i remember correctly. The paint was a perfect match to SSM. I believe the seller was something like BMWParts

How close of a match is the Ebay Spoiler vs. the OEM Type-S?

Anyone have pictures?

I went with the after market deck lip spoiler rather OEM. $80 bucks vs $400 was a huge difference. The difference is that the OEM is drilling and the ebay one is taped on. I bought the deck lip from seller 'thespoilerstore'. If you search around there are bunch of threads about it. The paint job is amazingly good matching and as satisfaction goes, I am glad I went the aftermarket way and saved 320$.

Do any of you have pictures of your spoilers installed? Does it look like the stock spoiler?

I bought from spoiler store as well because of people talking about how good paint matching was but they are "out of stock" on NBP and said they get them painted already and ship to us thats what makes it cheaper but they could paint it for me for 40 more dollars and I was pissed because they were making me pay 40 more for something that they ran out of stock on....they have no ETA on when black will be available so now I don't know what I am going to do....

I wouldn't really call it "damage" since its an OEM option as long as you did the install correctly. Honestly I wouldn't feel safe driving around with a tape on spoiler just gives me a little more comfort knowing its bolted down to the trunk.

^ well agree to disagree then.....I would certainly call it "damage" to your trunk as you a punching two holes in it...if you go this route then 1) you would have to buy an OEM decklid which costs more money and looks identical to the ebay ones 2) you can't sell it when you go to trade in/sell your car because you would be left with two holes in your trunk 3) that molding tape is pretty solid....do you ever see emblems falling off cars? the Acura and TL emblems are held on with just some double sided stick tape basically.

The only piece of mind I see the bolts providing is protection against theft (and that should only be an issue if youre in an area prone to theft)

This being said I have an OEM decklid and its bolts to my trunk...but if I had to do it again I would have gone the eBay route
