Aftermarket manual shift knobs

Im looking into a countersunk weighted shift knob for my 6speed. Ive been looking at the moddiction anvil series knobs and hoping someone had some input on them. Ricks Voodoo knobs seem popular here and the skunk2 knob.

Moddiction Anvil 2 Stainless steel shift knob

Any other suggestions, insight, experiences with aftermarket knobs?

i previously had the skunk2 which is very popular but recently switched to the raceseng slammer. long story short it blows the skunk2 out of the water in fit, form, and function. it was much more expensive but completely worth it to me. it's 50% heavier (635 grams compared to skunk2 440g and maven 472g), has great ergonomics, and has a shift boot adapter that eliminates the oem boot collar to give a seamless and sporty look.

for most people maven or skunk2 will be just fine. if you really want to go all out, look at raceseng.

You'll love it. I've owned 3 different weighted knobs - this one is my favorite and has been in the TL for well over 5 years.

Haha man I'm telling you the slammer destroys the skunk2 in every way (and I loved my skunk2). It just feels so much better shape wise. You can knock the price down too if you don't get the special powder coat and engraving like I did

Yea the ashiko is ridiculous. Lot of Subaru owners have it. The owner said it's designed and shaped for an overhead shift technique whereas the slammer is meant for side and partial overhand which is how I shift.

Very few if any TL cars have it so I'm gonna do a thread review on it to give them more exposure to this community. Cost is biggest downside so I know it's not for everyone

I have the Anvil 2 with the CT short shifter. Paired with the check valve delete and GM Syncromesh, the manual experience in this car is exceptional.

I've got a PWD JDM shift knob. They didn't have the gear mapping one in stock so I had to get the one with the logo. Weighs in at 500, and I like it for what it is. Also have the shifter bushings and GM syncromesh, everything has been good for me:

I have a voodoo in my S and it's too light for me. Felt like a shorter throw because its countersunk but I wasn't feeling the weight and went back to oem

I plan on getting a raceseng in the future. The skunk2 is ok but a bit tiny and getting sick of mickey mousing ways to hold the boot up. Why knob manufacturers don't provide solutions for the boot is a mystery to me.

Put a bigger zip tie on the shift lever itself. Just farther down on the lever than the knob screws down to. Then pull the boot over that and then screw down the knob. It'll pinch itself nice and tight.

That's what I did with my maven and it's been perfect since.

I hate you Sockr. Now im all self conscious and aware about how I shift and what my Skunk2 feels like. Now I really want that Ashiko knob...
Too bad it's nearly $200 for me due to really bad exchange rates.

haha do it!! it seriously made me the same way, thinking about how i shift and all that. but that's what a great design will do

mine was almost 200 without an exchange rate haha. i went all out because i ran out of mods to do to my car...
i was very hesitant to pull the trigger cuz of cost but my coworker had me hold/feel his twm shifter (it's about $200 also), and it sealed the deal for me to buy the raceseng which was even heavier.

I decided on the Moddiction Anvil Knob, was going to go for the maven but I couldnt resist the round knob. Moddiction is countersunk and weighted as well. I was surprised of the height difference compared to stock and it feels really solid in my palm. Ordered off the Moddiction Ebay site for 64.99 shipped. If anyone is interested I have a 10% off coupon code on all shift knobs(I assume it works for anyone).

Looks great!! A weighted shift knob feels so much better. Now you just need the short shifter!

And thanks for updating your thread, a lot of people ask for advice and then never update so it doesn't help anyone in the future. Enjoy!!

That looks great! I am definitely in the market for a new knob and probably getting one soon.

I know you just installed it but does it get super hot? I am assuming it will get very cold also in the winter time. I think this is the only thing holding me back from getting a new knob.

They do get hot and cold with the weather. I always kept one of my wife's unused footsie socks in the car and throw it over it if I had to. Lol

knob condom

I actually bought a starter kit of polyurethane mix to fab up a 'rubber' boot to put around the maven knob. I was going to make a small batch and see if they'd sell. Then I lost ambition. Lol

nice! those bushings make everything just a little more solid feeling. i assume you already have the GM/AC Delco fluid also?

all metal knobs will have this issue, getting hot in summer and cold in winter. like maharajamd said, some people just put a sock/towel over it. luckily in san diego there is not super hot and cold weather (well to us below 60 is cold and above 85 is hot)

check out raceseng, they actually have hybrid shifters made out of steel and then with a delrin cover that is meant to eliminate that hot/cold issue while still giving more weight for shifting. that was how i initially heard about them, i saw someone post about not having those hot/cold issues and then when i roamed their website i found an all metal one that i liked better (and considering our mild weather here it fit the bill)

It definitely will get hot and cold. If you are looking at similar anvil series knobs you can get them in textured black/red that will help dissipate the heat/cold

You guys can also try a shift boot adapter to merge the boot to the shift knob:
