Aftermarket Filter

It is time for me to get an aftermarket K & N filter for the 6MT TL. Has anyone heard if K & N corrected the prior problem with fitment? Are there any other brands/options I can look at? Where is the best place to buy the above online? Sorry for all the questions!

Are air filters things that are 1) easily replaceable and 2) easily determined to require replacement? I know the dealer will gouge prices for air filter replacements so if this is something I can do myself, I'll just buy it aftermarket and pop it in.

Any guidance would be appreciated!

sorry, but you should be specific on what kind of filter as i believe K&N makes both air and oil filters. (correct me if i'm wrong).

One thing to be aware of with K&N. They're oil-wetted. That means you can expect a slight buildup of an oily residue downstream into the throttle body and intake manifold. Since our cars don't have MAFs, all that means is that you will need to perform a little throttle body cleaning maintenance more often.

My car is on a lease so I am not concerned with that. Thanks for the input however! Do you know the best place to purchase them online?

No. I have not bought a K&N filter since I had my '88 Mustang LX 302 CID. For my '02 Altima SE, I used a Frankencar WAI with an Apexi filter which was a dry element piece.

Try AutoZone. They carry K&N. If they don't have yours, most speed shops may or will be happy to order one.
