sorry about the situation you are facing right now, best of luck with everything. I had my car die in that rain storm too in Brooklyn too, got it running but hopefully it will stay running. time for a change, enjoy the new ride

I hydro locked the engine on my corvette once. I had a CAI that sucked air from by the radiator under the car. Talk about a water vacuum cleaner. Anyhow I didn't change it out and the insurance didn't bat an eye on my claim.

Make sure you swap out any upgrades before you let them take the car. If its totaled you usually don't even have to reinstall, you just toss em in the trunk so they have all the replacement parts.

ok understandable got it now, however lets go to your next comment...

you knowing you have a CAI which sits low in the front bumper taking a risk of "well lets see if I can make it" or "hope I make it, please!," seriously what would you think the out come would be? Sorry it had to happen to you man but you asked for it in reality... once again not trying to be a dick here at all... just a realist man to man.

yes i am well aware of that...i dont get what your trying to get with asking me all these questions like i can go back in time. i drove through water thinking i could of made it because before my car stopped i drove through 4-5 deep puddles and my car mad it through fine. shit happens and now im getting a new car which means upgrade and i have no problem with that.

Terribly sorry to hear. A few other members got caught in that same flood. What's the interior like? I'd imagine it smells terrible by now.

Wow. Where did this happen in NJ? I have seen roads like this several times. Sometime u don't have a choice. If the interstate floods u really can't turn around because u have oncoming traffic and that is just dangerous. This is the main reason I didn't install a CAI.

wow, man my deepest condolences go out to you. IMO u had one of the nicest TL-S' on here.

I hope everything turns out well for you, and that your next whip shall one day be as sick as the TL-S.

tis a very sad day for the community...

I was in Jersey Shore last week for a Honda day meet which was canceled, and it downpoured and my Type S hydrolocked too. BUT. I was lucky. Before it completely sucked tons of water in through the intake and died. I turned it off myself. (It was about to die I heard it slow down fast) It was probably up to the top of the intake air vent on the front bumper. But I jumped out of my car in like 2 seconds and pushed the old girl up to a less rainy spot. I let it sit for a while. Tried to start it neumorus times, but it wouldnt start. It'd only click. So I took the spark plugs out (all 6) and cranked it over and it shot a ton of water out. Then I made sure all the spark plugs were dry and such and put them back in. It was a rough start but it got it started and I reved it a bit to get the water out of the exhaust (if there was some). I then went to the nearest shop and got them to change the oil since I BET there was water in the oil. And well. The rough start went away and it runs fine now. I now officially never want to go to NJ again because of this event. I'm from Woodstock, NY so it was literally a 3hr drive for nothing... Haha. But man that was a scary event. I thought the car was shot. But she's all good.. I'm sorry to hear that your car was ruined, that was a beautiful Type S you had.

Wow

I have an 04 Acura TL white with deep dish wheels and tints. Pretty decent ride and I had the same thing happen to me. Only I will rightfully admit, I am stupid; I had liability insurance only. I've been really upset about his loss. After having no payments for over 2 years and just last year I did the timing belt and full tune-up. After I drove in the water (which was on a road I'm familiar with and looked like a few inches) it turned out to be a lot more than I anticipated and was almost as high as your damn pictures when I drove through the deepest part. Ok kick me while I'm down. I made a big huge mistake. I went home, changed oil and filter 3x and then changed the sparkplugs, all after I shot the water out of the engine (after removing the spark plugs) The car ran fine but there was a tap and faint knocking sound. I assumed it was a rod, some other guy said it was a lifter. I heard dozens of part-time mechanics give me their assessment. Coils, lifters, condensation, corrosion ( water stayed in engine for one week). Anyhow, I kept driving. Then as I drive down the rode, with my son in the car, I hit about 4 or 5000 rpm and BANG CLINK POW BANG CLICK (sound of metal parts hitting ground) and then you see nothing but smoke out the rear windshield and my oil hitting the ground leaving a trail. Then she took her last breath. I thought about getting the full coverage and trying to pull fraud but I ain't a liar. I'm an honest guy. Now I need some good input on where to go from here. I've researched the price of remanufactured engines. Not sure on the price of labor. I definitely ruined the engine right? I don't know if I should just scrap out the car. Please help. Prices, engines, services, advice, knowledge and wisdom are all welcomed. If you want to say anything about my bad decisions, let me save you the effort, I'm a fuckin moron for driving through water and not having full coverage...now moving forward.
