AEM CAI Install Question?

I plan on installing the CAI after work tomorrow and I have a question about one of the steps in the install instructions.
Step 4) Optional Power Adder Note: This is for Off Road Use Only and voids CARB Approval
In this optional step you move the IAT sensor from the throttle body to the intake pipe.

Does anyone know how much power this step adds and why?
Does voiding CARB approval damage the car in anyway?

I don't plan on doing this step for everyday driving but I figured I would ask the questions since I have not seen it mentioned on the forum.

Thanks

moving the sensor from the throttle body to the pipe the sensor is gonna read denser air there as adding more fuel.dont know how much power will be added.I really dont believe its gonna hurt the car.

it doesnt read denser air it reads the air more accuratly , as its reading the air stream and not the heat radiating from the intake manifold, this will lead to a slighly richer mixture, and it not being carb legal, but it should bump the power ever so slightly
