Advice on buying '07-'08 TL-S
#1
hey guys, i just recently joined the forum.
i'm looking to buy an 07-08 TL-S, and want to get some advice on what to look for when buying one.
need some tips, warnings, and anything that could help?
currently viewing an 08 TL-S, black, clean title, but with 130k miles already.
he says he's already had timing belt, water pump done at 110k miles.
transmission fluid done every 30k.
seems like he takes care of his car. and what should i be paying for it?
got him down from 16.5k to 14.5k
any advice to a new member would be greatly appreciated!
whoops, sorry, accidentally placed this in wrong generation section. >.<

Whether it is a good deal is up to you...timing belt and tranny are the major issues, assuming this is an automatic. Many sources out the there to tell you average trade in or private party prices...nada.com or kbb.com

Just call any Acura dealerships service department with the VIN and they will tell you if there are any outstanding recalls. Dont forget to get a carfax report and then inspect the paint and body panels to see if they are original or if its been hit or repainted.
I dont really think there is anything specific to look out for with the TL-S as its a pretty solid car, but just the usual stuff that you would look into with any used car.
Thats pretty high mileage and to me 14.5 sounds kind of high but I could be wrong as I have never priced out a high mileage TL-S. To me I would say somewhere in the 13's would be more reasonable and thats if its clean and never wrecked.

Also, I think the power steering hose recall applied to the 07-08 Type S's as well.

Yes, I belive as long as there's an open recall you can take it to any Acura dealership and they will fix it for free....because they have to, or else they'll be sued.

Its from a private party, so taxes, tags and fees would be separate. Through my research here, it looks like there's a good amount of maintenance that needs to be done at the 60k mark. I do not know if I should ask him to take care of those things first, or negotiate the price down even lower...any thoughts?

Just wanna let u know in April I paid 19.2 for my 08 kbp type s down from him asking 22k and mines had 49k miles in NYC which is inown for notoriously overcharging. (Private seller) dealers were asking 24 with 60-70k miles smh Only issue was front bumper was cracked. Which I got the lip kit to cover it up
