Additional Factory wax???

Guys,

I am new to this forum and my gf just bought a 04 TL. The dealer suckered her into buying this additional wax/cover for the car that cost $800. She didn't know the full details of it. Does anyone know anything about this? I told her to go back and get her refund cause I thought it was a waste of money. What do you guys think?

thanks,
vutown

You're right. It is total BS and a rip-off. If she hasn't received the car yet she should cancel the "wax/cover", IMO.

You can do the same thing when you get it home with a good polymer sealant for about $20.

I would consider reporting the dealer to the authorities for such an outrage. If you look at the fine print at the bottom of the MSRP it says: this includes all dealer preparation and delivery charges. They are taking advantage of her ignorance of the subject.

Not sure what they told her, but when I was picking my car up they offered me a detailing package.. Said something to the fact I could get it detailed anytime I wanted and they would give me some protective coat. Needless to say I didnt take it.. As XP said you can do that yourself.

Total rip-off and pure profit for the dealer. My dealer tried to get me to fall for this line of crap...telling me that it would protect the finish from acid rain damage...pure BS...this is nothing but a sealant that the dealer applies in 30 minutes or less...nothing more...just profit for the dealer. GET YOUR MONEY BACK, or cancel the order....$800 is a lot of money for a "wax" job.

Yeah, my car was packed with this and the window "engraving". I said "take them both off", and of course, the engraving they did not do, so I negoitated for an additonal price reduction.

The first thing I did ws use Pinnacle Bodywork Cleaner to remove all their silicone laced garbage. They had put in ont he windshield, and I am stillw orking to remove that garbage, and the chattering wipers it caused. Harummph.

I received the wax and rust proofing for 300 canadian dollars...........the wax increased my surface corrosion warranty to 10 years........and the rust proofing 10 years to the restof the car. not sure how much this car would rust normally....but I liked the sound of the icreased rust warranty...now it almost equals the 12 years on an audi.

I must also confirm but not sure if it is due to the wax but bird sh.... has never left even a mark on the finish. On my 2001 sierra there is always a mark in the paint after such an event. (no special wax)
