I am currently trying to accomplish paddel shift from a 07-08 Type S on a base 08 TL. I got the entire steering wheel, nut just not sure how to wire the thing. I've been reading and lot of people is refering the SRS clock spring. Im not sure if I'm following what everyone is trying to say. Any help would be great.

Paddle Shifter

I happy to have found this form. Seems like with the amount of information I could find on the internet about doing this mod was rather limited. Anyways I bought a 08 Type-S steering with the carbon shift knob of eBay for like $150. Just the other day I was thinking and thinking, is this even possible. Sure enough I took off my base TL steering wheel, swap it out and everything just worked. All except the paddle shifter. So I tapped into the wire of the paddle shifter and notice that its really only one wire on each side. Its a 2 pin wire connector but one of the wire simply just goes from on paddle shifter to another. While the second one actually leaves the steering column housing. So I manage to connect one wire from each side and ran it to the select lever, and it worked.
Now here is the million dollar question. which wire at the end of the steering wheel cabel reel is the two I can tap into. I've already made the connection for the center console gear box, and have two wire leaving the console but I just can't figure out where to connect it to.
Any help with this would be super, I'm nearly done with the project, but just need to figure out this last part. I know if I tap enough into all the wires underneath the dash I'll eventually find the two correct wire. I just rather not, because who knows what could go wrong.
So if anyone can kindly assist me, it would save me an lot of time and I can eventually make a mod instruction or video for everyone that would like to make this mod to their car.

Thanks guys and may gal out there.

I just don't see the appeal of this project. In over three years I've probably used mine 5 times. If they clicked off gears with actual speed I'd get it, but they are just too slow to react to increase the driving experience IMO.

Just install the wheel without wiring up the paddles.. you're not going to end up using them anyway...

I think you guys are ignoring the "because you can" factor.

I'd do it in my base TL just for the sake of it (because racecar also) except that you can't. Nobody has really figured it out.

Im another one thats with the guys that think its just not worth it. When I had my automatic TLS those paddles were a joke. Super slow shifting, not fun at all, and lastly, its an automatic. Put it in drive and be done with it. Like KJ TLS said, I used them maybe a couple times and that was just to verify that they did infact still suck, and promptly went to never using them again hahaha. Now I have a TLS without paddle shifters ;-)

I think that's an unfair comparison. One is for JDM as fuck, the other has an actual function (seriously, you can change gears!). Might not be very responsive, sure, but they work hey.

Also the cluster is not useless if you're thinking of living in Canada and you don't want to read the little numbers. Whenever I take a trip in the US of A, I just eyeball my speed. The numbers under the main ones are so tiny and blue is not showing very well unless you're at max brightness driving in a tunnel.

They are almost useless. I am a Canadian that takes semi regular trips down and it would be nice to see my speed in MPH at times. Can the lighting be changed to make it brighter possibly ? Not a big deal as i usually just follow traffic but more of a would be nice.

I've never looked into this, I don't use MPH often enough myself. You'd have to look into this yourself.

Other than putting the brightness of the display at the maximum level, you'll probably need to change the backlighting.
